The Ventari Sell b/o stealing practice

Im not posting this to complain but must to inform everyone about this kind of practice.

I was the first one to put the b/o. SOMEONE edited his post few hours later to remove his 62 ecto bet and remplace it by the b/o.

Actually its my word vs SOMEONE's word but since "another bidder" have bet 90 min later 63 ecto, I think its clear that first's SOMEONE bet was smaller.

The AUCTIONNER told me, in private, he was thinking its suspect but he sold it to him...
Why care when you get the price you were asking.

Anybody got a problem like this? Anything Guru moderators can do to prevent this practice?

you can do that on alot of auctions. Its called Buy it now right?

Your post has a timestamp, and his post edit has a timestamp. The logical thing to do would be to use the earliest posting time as the winner.

...of course how many times does logic get used these days? :\

The problem here is Im the one who have put the buy out at 9h51 AM (East Time)
SOMEONE was betting only 62 ecto.

and 3 hours later he changed his mind and decided to put b/o at 12:51 PM (East time) (Look the edit time)

No problems for me. But then again, I only use the real auctions.

im also sure i saw a rule on ventatis sell about no bidding after someone takes b/o. its a really bad problem imo and highly unfair. report to someone like admins bane and see what he can do

I think it's pretty obvious what happened...I mean, why would you post a b/o offer after someone else already has?

I dont see what they can do anyway... Bann him ? I think its easy to recreate an account on guru after a bann.

Its must to make sure everyone know about this kind of practice and to sensitize people who sell item about the fact that is important to be sure to sell to the winner of their auction.

Another example:
Few week ago I was seeling a very rare skin item for very cheap price and someone create an pvp character with a similar name of the b/o winner to collect it before him. But since I always check for this kind of things that didnt work...

EDIT: About posting a name... I was woundering about that, but since the problem happened here on Guru and not in game, and the link to the auction is good... I dont see what difference it make.

Its not a situation where the auctionner changed his mind, its a situation where someone have cheat and lie to win an auction. And actually he have bet after someone else have put b/o... its a violation of the rules.

Loeil Battlecow, that's what I'm trying to explain. This is not a violation of any rule. Our auction forums are based on the honesty of each user, as I said, this is why we offer multiple ways on this site to complete transactions. None are fool proof. And these are isolated incidents, most auctions are completed on positive terms. This is indeed Site Feedback as you are providing feedback to the community and the guru staff on a particular aspect of this site and your experience, our Sell Forums.

I left a redirect to this thread from our Riverside Inn though. I'm sorry that I can't give more of an explanation then this, our Sell forums are the most heavily modded and frequented of any of our forums. Our moderators work full-time as it is to try to control the chaos of this section. There's just no solution or way for us to oversee, moderate and individually investigate situations as these trying to find out which party might be at fault. As I mentioned though, most experiences in the Sell forums are positive and these are just the 'bad apples' that are bound to come out every so often.

Loile, it IS kinda obvious what happened. It would've been much better if the seller had sold it to you rather than SOMEONE who so obviously cheated. I'm sorry you didnt get it. Inde is right though, it isn't a violation of the rules, there's nothing for Guru to do. It is a case of humans being Asses. If it restores your faith at all, I for one have completed tons of sales/purchases here, only had 1 butthead and many many very cool, nice, honest players. People can be dishonest, but we honest people do have 'em outnumbered despite the evidence to the contrary. Hang in there you will get your Yeti yet!

Thank you for letting people know about this. I'm selling stuff right now and want to make sure it goes to the right person. What that person did seems very suspicious so if I see something like it I will remember this post and give it to the person with the earliest time stamp. Guess the guy who edits his post will be in here complaining then...

PS: I hope the OP does not mind, but I have linked his thread on my sell thread to help explain my decision. It is my hope that other sellers read this post and take similar action to ensure that people who b/o an item first are awarded that item. I know you are a little angry right now but I want you to know its not all about getting plat. I like to talk to other people and have fun in this game and if the people feel cheated then they will not want to talk to me.

even it is a b/o.....there is no guarantee u can get the item u want.

Yeah, not much anyone could do at this point. But that is low, especially that "Why are you guys still bidding?" comment he threw in to act like that's the only reason he edited and he had b/o posted all along.

I have to through in my 2 cents...
Not only I see this cheating practice every day (editing posts with b/o or higher bid in front of somebody), but also people bidding without checking offers already made, and most often making lower bids after higher bids are made.
It is understandable that this is only a forum with Buy/Sell section and could not be enforced as real auction. Also it is based on honesty, which is a rarity these days.

Also, as witness I can say that <drug name> was bidding 62e (I came after with 63 ) and Loeil came with b/o after me.
I agree that <drug name> should be banned forever (though it is easy to create another account), but also seller should get temporary suspension as well for 'do not care' part.
