Song/Stone Quest

I'm having problems getting this quest started. The quest appears to focus on the cathedral, but when I start the quest and follow the compass the quest ends up taking me a long way from the cathedral (via the character with the cable car). I'm lost at this point....any ideas or maps that might help?

You need to start this quest from Altrum Ruins.

Thanks....for some reason I kept getting pointed in another direction via the map.
