stupid password recovery

So I haven't played in about a year. Now I want to play again but I cant remember my password. So I go to "reset password" on the log in screen, but thats not what I need. That makes me register a whole new account. I never had to register with NCsoft, my account is a @yahoo.com account name.

All I want is my password sent to my email, which is my Guild Wars Account name.

If you have purchased something from the in-game store you account has been irreversibly linked to a plaync account that you had to make. In order to recover your password you will need to visit plaync.com and login to your account there. You should then have access to reset your account password. Arena Net is aware of this issue and don't seem to be doing much about changing it for the moment, most likely due to security issues.

The @yahoo.com e-mail you have is just a login name, your account is not registered to that e-mail. Your account should be linked to a PlayNC account if you either linked it earlier or purchased something from the online store in which case you can use your PlayNC account to change your password. Otherwise, the PlayNC knowledge base might have the answer you are seeking.

If you haven't registered with PlayNC, you have to in order to have the reset the password. This will do as aeroclown suggested and link your account to that, but at least you can reset the password. I had to do the same thing as well one time when I suspected my pass was compromised, and it was a pain, but it's worth it. Otherwise people could reset random account passwords just knowing an account name.
