PvE Rits

I was wondering, what non-healing rit builds is it easy to pick up a PUG in with? I am pretty inexperienced with the Rit class - it's the one class I don't have any skills unlocked in... So i'm trying to get some more experience with it. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
*edit* I meant non*pure* healing builds - I've been monking for a bit and i'm tired of it... So I figured i'd try the one class I have no experience in whatsoever.

Most people at this point will realize the value of an offensive spirit spammer. For those missions where you're not racing around the map, such a character is certainly a valuable asset to the team. You'll really need to keep on top of the missions, though, and expect to change your build depending on the situation. The missions where you need to race around all over the place will need a different build, perhaps centered around a quick nuking build with just one fast-recharging spirit as a platform.
As far as your aversion to healing, I can see it, but you may want to at least give it a whirl once or twice so you're at least proficient in it. It's much like being a Healing Prayers monk, but I feel that with Weapon Spells and Spirits, it can be a little tricky to adjust at first.
You should be able to get a group if you seem like you know what you're doing. If I ever PUG, I'll call out everything that I'm capable of, to show other folks that I can handle specializing in whatever the party needs at the time. There have been a couple times where I've played an offensive spirit spammer one mission and a restoration rit in the next one. Just keep on top of what is going to happen in the mission, judge your build appropriately, and advertise yourself as the versatile character that you are.
Welcome to the ranks! You'll enjoy yourself with a Ritualist, it's a great class.

Thank You ^_^; Rit seems like a fun class. Do you know any generic offensive spirit spamming builds?

Not sure if you are looking for a build but this is the skill’s I used for PvE for all of factions and nightfall. The following offense Non-Elite build was fun for me. (Set spirits then hex target then spirit rift/essence strike away also use splinter on your Warrior if you notice him in a group of enemies)
Pain
Bloodsong
Painful Bond
Essence Strike
Spirit Rift
Splinter Weapon
Generous Was Tsungrai
Flesh of my Flesh
The beauty of attacks by spirits is there attacks are good in distance and are not blocked by terrain like you and me so you could hide behind things if you wish.

Their attacks ARE blocked by terrain...not sure where you are getting this.

That rumor has been floating for a while. The attacks are blocked like anything else.
They also have trouble shooting uphill. Even slight inclines stop them from attacking, sometimes.

Got it from Wiki it states the following ;
Spirits do not need a clear line of sight when it comes to attacking an enemy through terrain. This is particularly useful in situations when attackers do not have a clear line of sight to the spirit itself. However, be aware that certain obstacles such as gates in PvP will block incoming spirits' attacks.

Clear line of sight does NOT equal blocked by terrain. Clear line of sight refers to shooting up hills, etc...
For example, if I cast a spirit behind a rock, its attack does NOT hit an enemy behind that rock. I have tried this many, many times and it simply doesn't work.

Someone needs to update wiki because that is just blatently wrong.

I assumed from the Wiki passage that they could attack unobstructed. I mislead myself. I really never tested it either. It is pretty straight forward build that I used, and never got in a situation where I thought I needed to hide. Thanks for correcting me.

Minion Bombers FTW. Add Heroes, and you just tear it up.

If you plan on pugging, offensive spirits are proly not a good idea. By the time you set your spirits up, things have died or have moved out of range. Offensive spirits work well if you use heroes/hench.
An AwS Channeler build w Serpent's quickness is pretty solid. Something like:
Spirit Rift, Ancestor's Rage, Splinter Weapon, Essence strike, Spirit burn, AwS, serpent's, Bloodsong
16 Channel, 13 Spawn, rest in Wilderness

I find that I used Restoration a lot in PvE as it was what most groups wanted out of me, but with the hero addition I switched to offensive quite a bit. I agree that if you want to use offenseive spirits it is pretty hard because most groups are dead or almost dead so you should have something that is faster and doesnt take too long to get ready. Channeling and Restoration seem the best answer to me, but spirits are quite fun to use.

i used to run offensive spirit spam all the time.
then a week or so ago - i really tried channeling and i quite loved it!
16 in channeling
13 in resto
ancestors
channeled strike
spirit rift
offering of spirit
splinter weapon
cruel was daoshen
life
flesh of my flesh
(life and fomf sometimes get replaced by charm and comfort animal with 12 in bm - and then Sugarlumps gets splinter on him AND hes the body used for droppping ancestors)
cruel -> run in -> ancestors -> cast cruel again (which makes the first one drop) and drop the second one
thats gotta be one of the most fun things ive ever tried!

In PUGs, if we already have two healers, I either go channeler, spirit bomber, SS warrior, or rit lord. If you feel like getting up close and personal with them try the Spirit's Strength build
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Build:Rt/W_Spirit_Warrior
IMO if you don't feel like doing much and just want to help, Rit Lord is the best way to go. Your spirits have a very far range, so you can sit back (further than the monks) and just keep pressing buttons
But as far as offense goes, I like using the spirits ( pain, bloodsong, shadowsong, ANGUISH) along with painful bond. Some of these spirits are very costly, so I would reccomend keeping them in safety, or carry some sort of e-management skill (AwS or some mes spells will do fine)
Just remember on the offensive, Wanderlust (knocks down), and earthbind ( makes knockdowns 3 seconds) do wonders.

Spirits are the most fun in PvE, especially watching the slaughter of the enemies. If you would like it to cast faster and not wait so long for your spirits to recharge try the Battle Box Spirit Spammer on Guildwiki.

http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Build:R...Spirit_Spammer I wouldn't use that build personally...
The most glaring thing wrong with it is the use of Restoration as a res. Naomai is niche enough as it is (thus unorthodox) but the gimped range on that thing and the recharge make it a joke.
Anguished is a great skill. However the likelihood is you'll be carrying a set of ashes around frequently so using Wielder's Strike with Warmonger's to power it doesn't really feel right. You really want to stick Warmonger's on other, high frequency attackers, not yourself with a wand.
Additionally with those 2 main beaters being on 3 second casts and 30 second recharges, I can't see a reason to force yourself to use Soul Twisting. There are quite a few really nice elite options in those 2 lines (Caretakers has synergy with Anguished, Offering if you feel you need the energy, Weapon of Quickening is great on all casters not just yourself etc.).
