Go to the gate of anguish mission and you can trade 5 to the collector for a superior salvage kit then sell it to the merchant for 1k.

the point is its a collector item which is a quest reward JUST like battle commendations/kournan coins/trade contracts....

Actually, you trade them at the gate of desolation. They are given as quest rewards for the desolation.
