A targeting question

Is it possible to have like a "secondary" target to use spells and skills on without changing my current target?

For example, if I'm a monk and want to throw a heal on the warrior, is it possible to do so without losing target on the creature I'm currently attacking?

I'm not, it was just an example. Actually I'm using a W/Mo and wanted to maybe heal someone but still keep the target that I was currently attacking.

So basically I'm hacking away at something, throw a quick heal on someone, and then automatically continue attacking the same thing. Is this possible, or does it require that you select the heal target, heal them, then re-select the creature and click(or space) to attack it.

Nope. Learn to use hotkeys. Use "T" to target the foe you (and presumable your warrior) was attacking earlier.

For the purposes of this question, lets divide skills into two groups:

- Skills that cause you to auto-attack whoever you use them on (I think this is all attack skills and not much else)

- Skills that don't cause you to auto attack

In my experience if your attacking something and use a skill from the first group on another target, you will change who your attacking. If its from the second group then you will keep attacking the first target.

If I am understanding this correctly, I think there is a way but it would be just a regular, non skill attack. Let's say you're just wanding or shooting arrows at a foe, then you heal or what ever somone else. When that's done, you're still wanding the original target, but will have to select it again to use a skill against it. I've done this with my ranger when using choaking gas or apply poison. To change the target, while the other is still alive, you have tab to that target and then hit the space bar.

A monk can get a few licks in with a wand or staff, as long as the party is in good shape. This can help put a tough boss over the edge, and/or speed things up a little in a close timed mission.

My M/N often carries Shadow of Fear, along with the heals, because it causes a 20 second slowdown against multiple foes in melee, without costing a single attribute point. Naturally, be careful that it doesn't interfere with what someone else is using, SS for example.

Just beware that you don't get carried away, and let somebody (including yourself) die.

Well, you can CTRL + Left Click which will call out the target so you can "keep" track of the monster you are attacking. I personally use this when I'm not with a PUG due to the fact that monks are not likely to call targets unless there's a reason.

If a monk wands while healing, the damage he/she deals is almost equivalent to a spell doing -5 degen. Take that into consideration.

The feature you are looking for is called "Suppress Action". You can find it in the Control options, the hotkey is "shift" by default, iirc.

You can shift-click on something to select is as a target without performing the default action (attackig foes, picking up items) against it. For example: you are whacking away at opponent A but want to cast a spell at opponent B, shift-click on opponent B and cast the spell and your char will resume attacking A after you are finished casting the spell.
