Anyway, Westerners need not wrory about how closed Chinese servers are or anything... Some people like to blow the Chinese situation out of proportion alittle.

Regarding whether Chinese server will be independent/separate or not - Again, Japanese open beta's case.
Those on JP server could move to international districts during beta. And RA/TA/HA matchings were made globally. I remember that EU/AM/KR HAers were pleased to earn free fame from JP noobs during JP PvP beta period.
This isn't concrete evidence, but if you can't move to international districts NOW, it's highly unlikely that Chinese server would be connected to the rest of GW world.
In this case, favor of the gods might be upon Chinese server 24/7.

Hmm... China enters global tourny...
Japan is already in...
As is Taiwan...
America has no good players cuz they switched to europe...
So it'll be a battle between china+japan+taiwan 90% of the time... maybe Korea thrown in there... Europe gets smashed cuz we all know China will dominate... uhm..
oh good god.
Btw China? Get with the times... we're not all evil here! (just the US, we bomb peeps for no good reason)

Regarding China being isolated from the rest of the world servers and how favor might work for them, i have may have a guess.
There may be a chance that the favor system for access for FoW and UW will be removed and replaced with something else once GW for China goes live. Either that or GW China will have their own system of how favor for access to UW or FoW will work.
But personally i wont worry too much about the Local mainland farmers on The 9 servers, its much more profitable to sell egold to other countries such as the US and EU for the higher profits from exchange rates than to sell within the local online markets which may be larger with a lower profit margin.
But seening how most chinese players will burn through the content in less than a few weeks and start to realise that unless you like to "PvP" its all just about playing online dress up game with the PvE over time. This will cause many hardcore players to leave to more "profitable" grinder games or back to WoW or MU. Not to mention, GW is already a game that is close to 2 years old, think about it.

Qinghai has won a battle in the Hall of Heroes. To take the favor of the gods favor from Guangdong, Qinghai must win 4 more times.
Goodness knows there's enough people in China to pull this off

, i can see some really seriouse problems that you were talking bout in Chinese MMORPG are the truth. However, been playing 3 days now in chinese server, i ve seen that large amount of ppl that do really enjoy the PvP part of the GW. I dont know cuz if its a kinda new idea for em or w/e, but i really do hope they can keep it up
and i beleive that china will have some of the best players in the world soon.I would like to remind some of our forumers here that though you might think China is populous, the distribution of wealth is geo-politically motivated. Hence despite belief, there are some areas that cant even afford medication least spend time out of the fields to play a computer game. Online Gaming like in every country other than south korea (even so typically focused in seoul) is still an activity practised by a minority between an age group of 12 to maybe 30-45. Believe it or not, even if China has over 2-3 million gamers (concentrated in the wealthier cities) they will still belong to a minority of the population of China.
If you are going to make part of China play PvP among themselves, you literally will basically just have a few cities with enough gamer base playing against each other. Do you think that this model will work in the US(in a country with much better wealth distribution and per capital income) should it's servers be isolated from the world? If not what makes you think it would work in China?

undeadgun, my previous post wasnt targeted at you or gamers in China. Poverty exist as a fact in every country, i wasnt trying to paint over everyone there in China or affordablity of GW.
First problem now i suppose which is in question is how PvP and HoH will be handle in regards to favor and UW/FoW access will be handled in GW China.
Secondly, you mention GW is on a Pay to play model? A good deal of discussion was made here and elsewhere that GW is not worth a P2P form of subscription based model and if this is true then i dont think GW will do very well in China due to simple reason of boredom. I bought all three chapters of the game on the F2P model and i am bored, do you think i would continue to play it if it was a P2P? Even now our gamer population are on the decline with players leaving this game all the time. GW is currently riding on hype more than anything else and what will happen when most players reached level 20, with green weapons and 15k armour and realise that the hours they put in (Paid to play) to build their characters are no better than those players who instantly create perfect characters in PvP. Practically the PvE would bombed once they understand this and the only thing to do is to replay the game again and again with the "new" professions. Will you pay to play such a game?
It was not surprising that GW did not do well in both Tawian and Japan which are large gaming hubs themselves. I was not optimistic from the start with GW in China.
