Hey guys I am in the middle of making a warrior and I decided to make him a stance tank. I am not familiar with any Warrior stuff so I was wondering if someone can help me with a nice build. What would be the attribute point distribution, skills, weapon/shield combo, and armor for a good stance tank. Please post ASAP, thank you very much.

I generally use a riposte/stance build with my warrior, skills for the basic build setup are:

Healing signet, Riposte, Deadly Riposte, Distracting bow (any attack of choise I gues, just find it handy to have an interupt at times), Bonetti's defense, Gladiators Defense (Elite), Remove Hex and Healing Breeze

Depending on Situation I sometimes replace Remove hex with mend ailment or purge conditions. I always do tactics on 16, rest usually in healing prayers. The build allows you to tank and kill melee attackers very fast, the trick is fixing their agro on you. But you're doing 100+ dmg to them each time they hit you with the riposts while avoiding taking any dmg, and recharging your energy with bonetti's defense when it gets low. Degens can be countered with healing breeze while lighter dmg with HS. Best equipment to bring along is a stance shield with a +30hp mod and a +5 energy sword with a furious hilt imo.

Only downside is you don't really have anything to do against casters, exept for an interupt. Thats why I can came up with this W/E build which is based around the same principle:

Healing Signet, Riposte, Deadly Riposte, Watch Yourself!, Bonetti's Defense, Gladiators Defense, Mark of Rodgort and Glyph of Lesser energy

This allows for the same tanking principle vs melee avoiding taking dmg while doing huge damage to any melee attacking you (as I said you need to try and fix their agro on you) Now with this you can also provide steady damage to casters since it allows you to keep someone burning indefinately with mark of rodgort, you can litterally keep someone burning till they die if you have a fiery hilt, and if they are bunched I'd recommend bringing a fiery axe with cyclone axe and you can actually keep a group burning for a long time. Add ontop of that giving all your hero's fiery weaps and entire groups can be burned to death while you are also able to provide group wide armor boost with watch yourself. You need a weapon with a fiery mod on it, best a +5 energy weapon as well since it's pretty energy heavy, you can bring a staff for a quick emergency energy boost however by switching to it if energy gets low, Stance shield again.

Tested this build on many of the later missions, I know its a bit odd but it works, only downside is that you need to rely more on the grp monk but most dmg you take can be healed with HS and avoided with Gladiators and Bonetti's. Glyph you cast before MoR since it's 15 energy cost so without drains your energy to fast. Again tactics at 16 and rest in fire magic.

ROFL, dont listen to idicious. Use an axe/sword build, not a riposte build, as not everything in PvE is a melee creature. I'll post some builds and you choose the one you like. some use many campaigns, btw.

[skill]Triple Chop[/skill]
[skill]Cyclone Axe[/skill]
[skill]Dismember[/skill]
[skill]Executioner's Strike[/skill]
[skill]Wild Blow[/skill]
[skill]Flail[/skill]
[skill]Mending Touch[/skill]
[skill]Rebirth[/skill]

this uses all 3 campaigns, and is a solid PvE axe build. Warrior/Monk build.

attributes-
axe mastery-12,3,1
strength-12,1
protection prayers-3

zealous axe and max armor req strength shield. max radiant armor.

or u can try a prophecies-only build (only if thats what u have).

[skill]Eviscerate[/skill]
[skill]Executioner's Strike[/skill]
[skill]Penetrating Blow[/skill]
[skill]Cyclone Axe[/skill]
[skill]Wild Blow[/skill]
[skill]Distracting Blow[/skill]
[skill]Purge Conditions[/skill]
[skill]Rebirth[/skill]

Warrior/Monk build.

attributes-same as above

armor-Survivor

weapon/shield-Sundering axe+ str shield

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

now onto sword builds (which i prefer). again, 1 multi-campaign, and 1 prophecies.

[skill]Dragon Slash[/skill]
[skill]Sever Artery[/skill]
[skill]Gash[/skill]
[skill]Sun and Moon Slash[/skill]
[skill]Flail[/skill]
[skill]Enraging Charge[/skill]
[skill]Mending Touch[/skill]
[skill]Rebirth[/skill]

attributes -
swordsmanship-12,3,1
strength-12,1
prot prayers-3

now a prophecies only build.

[skill]Hundred Blades[/skill]
[skill]Sever Artery[/skill]
[skill]Gash[/skill]
[skill]Galrath Slash[/skill]
[skill]Final Thrust[/skill]
[skill]Wild Blow[/skill]
[skill]Distracting Blow[/skill]
[skill]Rebirth[/skill]

attributes-same as above

HOPE THIS HELPED. IF U HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, JUST PM ME!

Those are pretty good builds for sword/axe warriors but I want to make a stance tank. Anyone have a build for that?

you wont find a good stance tank build, just ones that are better than others, because the stance tank is inherently bad. it offers next to zero offense, and poor defense.

if you want a stance tank build, just drop a handful of stances on your bar (shield stance, glads, bonetti's, soldiers) a shout (shields up, WY!) a self heal (heal sig), and whatever other utility you want. but it doesnt really matter; no matter what you pick, the build wont be good. the stance tank hasnt seen any use since the gear trick nerf, and for good reason.

I use 2 skills in my tank. Soldier's Defense and "Watch Yourself!" Works pretty good. Maybe throw in Glads if you want even more protection since it might take longer than you like to build up adrenaline for WC.

Xeones The Great, you seem to have lost your heal sig. why dont you go do pre-searing again and see if you can pick one up?

a self heal, while nice to have, isnt always needed. if you PUG, then yes, dear god, dont leave without someway to heal yourself. but in good organized guild groups, you will usually find that a self heal becomes a dead slot. pve just doesnt offer enough situations where your team will be so over run that it becomes an essential. a nice crutch to have, but when you start rolling through missions, and realize you never touched your sig, nor did you ever even need to, you may find better use for that slot.

heal sig is unneeded in almost every aspect of the game if u have a monk in ur party. u eitehr have a good monk or a bad monk. good monk- will heal u when needed. bad monk- quit the group. i really dont know where heal sig would be used when u have a prty that includes a monk. of course, you can take out mending touch or somewhat to take it, but in the long run, youll find out that condition removal is waaay better than a vulnerable 2 second heal.

I agree about the heal sig. It usually just irritates the monk. Then he stops healing you at all, assuming you will heal yourself as needed.

Also, with the armor drop, unless you are very good with your skill timing, using it during the fight can end up killing you. Then the already annoyed monk will think "dumb warrior" and leave you dead.

Endure pain might be an alternative to this, but you also have to be careful as when you use it because if it ends while you are taking a fair amount of damage it might also kill you. Saves you the trouble of the -40 armor but gives you the trouble of a fixed duration meaning you will still depend on the monk. It's nice emergency heal though .

Okay so I will probably use a sword/shield combo, which would be the best if all my attacks will be sword attacks plus a few stances such as Watch Yourself and Glads.

Xeones, he asked for stance builds which generally involve not doing to much dmg but doing your best to absorb it, mine do that but are besides capable of doing decent ammounts of damage. I could also give some good high dmg sword/axe builds but he didn't ask for those.

idicious, stance tanks SUCK. we are trying to show him that, and he has finally found the light. he wants the proph sword build, but with a couple of defensive stances. so here it is, ur build:

Warrior/Monk

Attributes-
Swordsmanship: 11+3+1
Strength: 8+1
Tactics: 11+1
Protection Prayers: 3

Weapon-A Sundering or Vampiric Sword of Fortitude
Shield-A Requires Strength or Tactics Shield with max armor and hp+30
Armor-Full Knight's/Wyvern armor (80AL)

[skill]Hundred Blades[/skill]
[skill]Sever Artery[/skill]
[skill]Gash[/skill]
[skill]Galrath Slash[/skill]
[skill]"Watch Yourself!"[/skill]
[skill]Shield Stance[/skill]
[skill]Wild Blow[/skill]
[skill]Rebirth[/skill]

This is a solid Sword build, dealing massive damage and a bit of AoE with 100 blades. Also has Shield Stance and "Watch Yourself!" for extra armor and block ability. Wild Blow to remove annoying ranger stances. Rebirth for the best hard rez in Prophecies. Enjoy.

it kinda bothers me when people say things like this. the monk's job isnt to heal every little bit of damage you take, the monk is there to heal what healsig cant. monks wouldnt be so busy all the time if it werent for people who think the monk is their bitch.

Exactly. Or the war who thinks I should rearrange my entire skill bar just to cater to him when I have seven other people, including myself, to worry about.
