Hasn't Varesh been unnaturally agressive as of late? I remember my war having it so easy because Varesh charged me without provocation in both accounts without me having to deal with margonites or demons.
If that account aint valid anymore Varesh can easily be taken out using these tactics:
Tumor-Forehead Varesh: Kill margonite clerics first, if you have 2 monks and a good Morgahn you can easily mitigate Varesh's attacks as you pluck away at the silly monks. When you start to focus on Varesh, and this is imperative, take the fight as close to the north (I THINK) or whatever end that is opposite from where you started. You'll see why when you fight...
Spear-chucking kao-kan Varesh: This is only unnaturally hard thanks to the demon hoarde that Varesh brough with her from Torment. If you took my tip and went ALL THE WAY to the opposite end of your starting point you should be well out of Varesh's and the demons aggro points. From there set your heroes to defensive, flag the henches, and take out enough patrols JUST to pull Varesh herself. From there it's a simple gank and tank and you're done.
May not get you masters but it works.

Bring two copies of shields up and varesh's second (and more painful) form is completely harmless, as are all those arms of insanity floating around.
I just stood at the start and killed things until the mission ended.

...Yet the OP is looking for masters.
The way I've done it with heroes/henches and real-live-person groups, very easily for masters:
Morgahn as P/W with Watch Yourself! Song of this, Song of that, Wild Throw
Ranger w/ Poison and BHA etc
Necro w/ Spoil Victor etc
Mesmer w/ degen/Ineptitude etc
(^^depends on your own class, which you didn't specify)
When you enter mission, stand back, pull Varesh, kill her first time. The Clerics will not follow and nothing else is around.
Important: Before V spawns again, flag your grp waaay back up against the gate so they won’t wander down and aggro. Not across the chamber, but staying on the same side you started on.
Wait about 10 secs, for a couple of Insanity type groups to spawn, they’ll walk away. One group will stay. When you pull Varesh, that group will come too. Not to worry, just make sure you do battle waaay back up where you put the flag, and you’ll not aggro any other Insanity groups.

Randalf put together a guide on getting masters for this mission.

Run in, kill the clerics. Kill Varesh's first form. Run to the top area where you first came in and flag your heroes/henchies. Go to the very very top of this area. Do this before Varesh and the other creep spawn. Varesh should be at the middle of the circular area. Don't aggro her. Kill the Margonites around you asap. Once those guys are dead, there should be another group of Margonites patrolling around Varesh. Let them pass, lure Varesh to your henchies and kill her.
I've gotten Masters with my Warrior, Assassin, and Paragon by doing this.
Good luck.

Better yet don't move anywhere and Varesh can be pulled to the start (back up right to the gate). after you kill Varesh I you wait for all the spawns and let them settle, and Varesh II can be pulled out seperately or with at most 2 torments (no clerics at all). Works great with a rit lord what has dissonance, shadowsong, bloodsong, pain, painful bond....

From the guildwiki site (and I've found this to be true):
"Kill the Margonite Clerics first, then take down Varesh. Although it is possible to pull Varesh without aggroing the Margonite Clerics, it is not recommended, as Varesh will respawn and bring many other foes with her."
I used henchies and this heroes build, http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10081126, killed the clerics, killed Prophet Varesh and then quickly backed up against the 'starting' gate. Only had to fight two or three small mobs, pulled Commander Varesh back to the gate and killed her... all in under 8 mins.

My brother and I did this one the other night. His necro, my sin and 6 heroes. Our layout was the following:
Promise Sin
-Master of Whispers, set for SS
-Koss, to engage Varesh
-Morghan, because we have to
Brothers Necro, set for SV
-Melonni, for extra tanking
-Drunkoro
-Talhkora
Needless to say, with SS and SV, masters in 4:32
