I'm sure this has annoyed many people with its near constant spam. Ferrying to LA and people charging for it. I suggest a few changes in order to prevent this scam from continuing.
First make the canthan abassador options separate your group so no one can ferry people over that way
second for the terror in tyria quest only allow people with the quest or have completed the quest to travel along.
so many people think that it is mandatory for someone to have the quest in order to travel to tyria the first time and many many newbies are being taken advantage of.

I'm still not sure how this works. I've been ferried there, which was advertised as "free", and the person got us to the gate, and mapped out. We couldn't get in to LA. What's the deal with this? Is it possible to ferry or not?

As long as you have prophecies, you can go, yourself, to the canthan ambassador in Kamadan.(he is near the Churrizick fields entrance) talk to him and ask to go to any of the islands, warriors isle is shortest. once there you can go to the canthan ferry man and ask to "return to lions arch". anyone can do this and it is free, but many people charge a fee to run people there. It is possible to be ferried, but people charging for this is wrong. and i believe things should be done to prevent it.

Uhmm maybe but not a very good idea! If someone is trying to get ferried which is "illegal" in term of story line then being scamed is deservable! No complain! Zat's my opinion!

if you can get to Urgoz's warren or the deep yourself, then theyre on the same page, people charging for stuff you can do with your own character with no practice or skill involved.
The problem lies in the ignorance of many players and the ability to group into the guild hall "showrooms"
Ignorance is hard to combat because casual players dont always take the time to troll the forums for how to get to tyria nad just take the first available ferry they see.
but if anet takes away the ability to group into the showrooms and requires the quest to take mehnlow's "ferry" to tyria it would effectively stop this scam.

It's not a scam. Just because someone can do it themselves doesn't make it a scam. It would be a scam if they were paid up front and then just left. People can farm ectos themselves, but they still pay for them. You know why? Because they'd rather not spend time themselves when there's a readily available service that they can afford.

It takes the same amount of time to do it yourself as it does for someone else to do it. <sigh> i give up. im going to go make money ferrying people to tyria although they can do it themselves in the same amount of time wheee.

Umm, if you haven't beaten the 2 missions on Istan and you're an Elonian character, you can't take the quests to go to LA/Kaineng iirc. So it's no scam.
