Bcz wat i see is that we want money for be gorgeous.
We spend a lot of money in trash,like sets(15k) that have the same atributes like(1,5k),we spend moey in mini pets,for a stupid animal follow us,we spend money in dye for paint ourself,we spend money in a gorgeous weapon that have the same atribute like other more cheap.
So why we want money? why spend hours farming?Why we want greens for seel and win money?
In others games this not happen,and is nice farming bcz we will win really good things,not just the look :S.
So i think a good ideia is change this
Other things is the events,is really nice,but the itens is just for we full the storage.
For last is super important a personal store,for we are not spaming channels with "WTS",and is more easy..

People want gold because they can use it to buy anything.
People want items (armor sets, min pets) because it what interests them.
Other people just want to show off on how "leet" they are.
Store/auction house has been suggested many times before. However, even with auction/store, unless it is enforced, people will still spam WTS where ever they can.

Would you care to elaborate on how you would change things?
Because you're kinda taking the entire GW idea and saying it doesn't work. The idea of "skill over time played." Sounds like you want farmers to gain tactical advantage over casual players, and that's not what GW is about.
As for events and minipets, they are a fun diversion ANet has given us for a change of pace. You are not forced to participate nor are you required to wear or even store your Freezie Hat.
Increased storage, auction house, and stores have all been requested time and time again. What would you add to those oft-repeated suggestions?
