The first thing I would do is try to restart your computer. I would unplug your internet connection and then plug it back in after the restart. There could be several different reasons why things aren't loading (could be you...could be ANet). Start with that and see if that works. If not, then that rules out some possibilities.

Ok, this happen to me sometime, my firewall sometime just block GW for no reason. But in your case I would suggest check if your internet connection is working, check the cable and see if your router working ok as well.

Now this option is up to you to try, turn off your firewall and see if you can get on. You didn't say what firewall you have and if this happen before, also did you recieve any error msg such as error40?

not sure if this will help or not, but on one of my computers, everytime I update GW, my firewall asks if the program can access the internet. To make sure you firewall isn't blocking it for some dumb reason, disable it or turn it off for a couple minutes and check to see if you can load gw.

Edit: Also, i dont' think it's an internet connectivity issue cause you can access guru to post here, so it has to be something blocking your access to gw's server, unless your internet is terribly slow.

Edit2: Well I know some firewalls have a option to optimize for gaming or something that should be checked for online gaming, so you might want to look for something like that. Usually these settings don't change by themselves though, so if it was working before, it should still be working. Do you have a router? If you do, have you made any changes to it since the last time you played GW?

You could possibly have some corrupt files. Have you tried reinstalling the Client?

You could also try this and see if this works:
Some ISPs put in a transparent proxy to their service and sometimes things get changed automatically. GW by default connects via port 80. Sometimes the proxy messes with the traffic on port 80. I think some people have had luck on fixing this problem by forcing GW to connect and use port 6112. You'll have to use your personal firewall and block all communication on port 80 for GW.exe and allowing communication on port 6112 (for GW.exe).

I've had a lot of problems with zonealarm and GW, it's not just the gw.exe that needs permission. I recommend just using windows firewall (assuming xp) or set GW to windowed and zone to ask permission for everything, start up GW and authorize stuff.

hehe, I put this in this information in the wrong thread last night. Thats some real genius, I meant to post it in this thread.

Remove guildwars from the zone Alarm Program Access List. Zone alarm uses a sum to verify an executable, This sum obviously changes every time there is a new build. Force ZoneAlarm to relearn the access rights of Guildwars. Also to disable zone alarm you must also shut down the truevector service, simply exiting or clicking disable will do nothing. The Truevector service is the key back end component on Zonealarm and will continue to enforce Program Access Rights even when Zonealarm itself is not up and running.

Contrary to common belief you DO NOT absolutely have to froward ports to play games like Guildwars. There are very few routers these days that are not smart enough to understand that if you are sending data on a port you will receive data on a port.

Check with your provider for outages, try running the -diag switch on guildwars and see what you get out of it, there may be problems in the route your isp is using to reach the associated Data Center. Your isp may be using a proxy to route traffic through, this can also cause problems, you should check on that as well.
