Best Monk Weapon for Range?
wilburgtwoot
I use my 55 monk to IDS farm, and I can't seem to find a weapon that has enough range to pull the imps without setting off their Maelstrom. I used to use a longbow, but now for some reason my monk will not shoot it unless my aggro circle is almost right on the imps. I'm using a Wroth's Holy Rod currently, and some times it pulls them just right...but most of the time, they can cast off Maelstrom before I can back away far enough. I need some help finding some way to pull groups from a distance. I was hoping some of you might know what kind of weapons are available for a monk that would suit my needs. So far I have tried longbows, Wands, Staffs, nothing has worked so far.

The longest range weapon in this game is a catapult lol, and then the longbow.
So if the longbow is not working for you, I think it might be the way you are pulling, maybe doing something wrong?
Anyways, besides longbows/flatbows, wands and staffs, I can only think of a paragon spear.

Spears have a range similar to a shortbow. If you need to pull, but are struggling with a longbow, then try and stand on a hill to fire. It adds some range.

I was using a longbow for a while, and it worked really good. For some reason my monk just won't fire it anymore from distance. Now my ranger can shoot a longbow from a long distance, so I don't know.
Coloneh
you are probably a little ways down a hill, try repositioning
Covah
just use Mantra of resolve, maelstrom doesn't do anything then.

I think Coloneh hit the nail on the head, the range of a longbow reduces drastically if you are even slightly below your target. Conversly, if you are ABOVE your target, they have to run closer to you in order to attack. Thus it is best to lure on level ground.
