ok... I need some closure on this. i posted this build several times in the 'pve' threads and have gotten no feedback (good or bad)... after playing this build quite a bit in less desireable pvp formats I was wondering what experienced gvg players would think of it in a pressure/degen team build...

spear 16
beast 12

[card]tiger's fury[/card] [card]poisonous bite[/card] [card]barbed spear[/card] [card]blazing spear[/card] [card]disrupting throw[/card] [card]heal as one[/card] [card]charm animal[/card] [card]resurrection signet[/card]

variations: ias can be replaced with heckets rampage and disrupting throw can be replaced for another spear attack..

please note the following

1. I realize that the elite choice may not seem like the best... but in my opinion it makes the build more balanced.... the point of this build is to keep the dps going (and keeping the pet up at all time is more dps) the pet rezzes at 100% hp. however I am not used to leaving my life in the monks hands...so another choice may be considered.

2. increased attack speed on a spear is similar to axe/sword but you do not need to be adjacent (the spear is highly underrated imho) the increased spear and pet attacks are damage enough to get a look...

3. I am new to gvg so i dont mind getting flamed if you have given it a serious look...please try out the spear+pet+ias and see what I mean.

I would like to further explore the spear+pet dps idea... so if you have any comments to this regard I would appreciate it...(compared to the 'norm' spear dps the damage output is pretty good http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Build:P/any_Spear_DPS even compared to RaO its pretty good with 16 spear http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Build:Team_-_Barbed_Spears)

No energy management. There's no way for you to maintain spamming TF and Spear of lightning on a class with 2 nuggets of energy regen. You're better off running Ferocious Strike if you want to do anything like this. Even then, you won't have that much to work with. Go with aggressive refrain over TF, and take anthem of flame.

For running a pet though, you're better off going with a R/P.

i have been running about 40+ energy so its not as bad as it looks...heckets rampage also works well at 5e and gives you 33% but you cant use it through attacks...(not that it maters that much)... the ias is much easier to manage than agressive refrain.

spear of lightning?

...and as I said...compared with r/p.. in the link given, the damage output is still greater, I would rather have the 16 in spear mastery and higher base armour. than Rao on a ranged attacker..there is just no need...especially when standing around the flag..

the point of this build is dps pressure...putting all attributes in those lines(beast and spear) makes noticable difference. If I were to invest attributes in another line I would end up with a completely different build...(maybe thats where I should be but...still want to explore the options)

ranger/paragon would also work... but not as well considering the purpose of the build is consistant damage output

r/p's with that build actually work all too well.

Poisonous bite seems out of place in your build, you already have max degen half the time without it and you have only just enough energy to maintain tiger's fury. Merciless spear instead pehaps?

Heal as One > Ferocious Strike. The energy gain on ferocious is minimal without expertise, and ressing your pet with comfort is expensive if you are in an are with frequent pet deaths. The self-heal bit is also useful.

Not much point in going ranger primary instead unless you add another energy attack skill, the spear rune and an extra 10AL armour is handy.

I haven't run across of those p/r so I can't say how scary it is compared with other physical builds, but I doesn't look too bad.

ok...im not really sure why this thread was moved here (especially since I have already posted the build here)... I was wanting feedback from the gvg/pvp folks.... the campfire section is clearly not pvp oriented...but...

the only reason why r/p would be more effective is RaO, which as already stated is not as needed on a ranged attacker (flagstand pressure) as a melee thumper. and poison...well, Its the cheapest poison you can get and degen always helps on a pressure build.
