So I've played gw for about a year and a half now, and I am not exactly the best player in the world... I tend to die... a lot, and most of the high level missions/quests require the aid of one of my guildies/alliance members to help me through them.

I have completed all of Prophecies, and I am now up to the Gate of Torment in Nightfall and I have yet to start Factions with this character.

I mostly RP, but I like to do the PvE questing as well. So I guess I would just like some tips for soloing things... (with or without henchmen/heroes) to make things easier on myself.

I'm looking to make more gold, faster (without going to UW or FoW necessarily) and I use a lot of Fire skills.

This is my current (and usual) skill set:

Aura of Restoration
Fire Attunement
Savannah Heat
Flare
Fire Ball
Glyph of Lesser Energy
Meteor Shower
Rebirth

unless I am ABing (etc) and then I take Meteor instead of the res.

I use the skills in the order they are there, mostly spamming flare and fireball, and throwing in meteor shower and savannah heat when I can.

Help! I'd like to be a bit better player! Any tips?

ok so first off i'd say get to know your character. Knw what you like to play and what you really don't like to.

Now you wanna make alot of gold fast? I think a great way for you to do that is to farm greens. Here is a link to wiki you may want to do factions because your secondary needs to be assasin. But it is an effective way to farm many many greens quite easily.

Now on to the pvp part. Since you like to be just go to wiki and look up several of the elmentalist ab builds. or if being a cookie cutter aint for you. My advice is to get a wide variety of skills for a wide variety of proffesions.

This way you can make your own specific build and test it out. Also you can just get a grasp of different ele possibilites other than being a fire ele. But good luck and remeber to use wiki ALOT it is your BFF in guild wars

First off, the E/A build is pretty decent for soloing things, although that build noticeably lacks shadow of haste which can be fairly important. Another common option is the earth farmer

[skill]stone daggers[/skill][skill]crystal wave[/skill][skill]teinai's crystals[/skill][skill]sliver armor[/skill][skill]stoneflesh aura[/skill][skill]kinetic armor[/skill][skill]earth attunement[/skill][skill]ether renewal[/skill]

It's fairly simple to run. You can also run the perma-obsidian flesh build, which revolves around obsidian flesh and serpent's quickness. I've never ran it, and know it can be quite difficult to do so. I'll let someone else who actually knows that build put it down (I think maximonster has a guide for it somewhere).

As for your build, which is not a solo build, I'm not a huge fan of savannah heat. It's a one shot attempt at a big win, especially if combined with a snare. Eles in HA run it along with searing heat and a deep freeze guy as a bad team detector. Problem is, if it fails, you're stuck with a nasty recharge on most of your skillbar, leading to things like flare spamming.

To just throw a team fire build out there, I like to use this a lot right now:

[skill]mind blast[/skill][skill]fireball[/skill][skill]smoldering embers[/skill][skill]rodgort's invocation[/skill][skill]searing heat[/skill][skill]heal party[/skill][skill]fire attunement[/skill][skill]resurrection chant[/skill]

Finally, I'm just going to say that many wiki builds are absolutely horrible. Some are good, but be careful about blindly pulling a build off of there.

Those each have seven skills what do I add for the last (on the first build it's easy... a res, but on the second one should I do flare? maybe lesser energy glyph?

See I'm no good at finding what would pair up well together.

on the second build id say either glowing gaze due to the burning or glyph of lesser energy to work with the huge energy output of rodgorts. i never find flare that great cause it doesn't do great damage and people tend to spam it and kill most of your energy up. but its your build usually try things that work well together that work upon each other. if you like meteor shower takes something that cause something else to knockdown opponents. sad thing is ele isn't my best profession

On the second build... Glyph of Sacrifice, a cover enchant for Fire Attune, or another Fire AoE spell... or even some utility. Perhaps a cap sig?

Flare is a terrbile skill, and uneeded - Mind Blast --> Fireball --> Mind Blast --> Embers has near enough no downtime, Flare would go unused.

Any extra e-management is also unnecerssary - anyone who's ever played Mind Blast would know of the HUGE masses of extra energy you have, enough so that you could run HP. It's like Prodigy with damage.

Searing Heat's a cute skill, the damage is respectable and the down-time unimportant. Flame Djinn's Haste is a decent enough point-blank that would allow you to kite better. You could sink a few points in Air, even, for Gale or Blinding Flash. Or Draw Conditions. Or Extinguish.

Of course... We can't have that now, can we? That would be versatility and support on a wtfpwning damage dealer... /sarcasm

No Flare plx.

whoops, I fail at counting. In the first build, I like searing heat or glyph sac in that spot. Flare is horrible, and energy is no problem. You can even get by without fire attunement ifyou don't mind being more careful with blast.

In the second build, sliver armor all the way. There's no point in a rez, since it's a solo build. Don't ever, ever, ever bring it with a team.

If you want a good starting point for farming builds, look at wiki, and try to cap or buy those skills. The builds aren't perfect, but they're better than what most people can come up with normally. The above posted fire bars are alright, but it really depends on what you want to accomplish with your character.

I wouldnt give it to a player who isnt completely comfortable with his character. I wouldnt try farming solo with i myself. to much microing.

I'd look in the farming forum for farming builds.

E.g., that Earth build is OK, but it's suboptimal in a couple of ways.

I've posted extensively on Ether Renewal builds in the past.
