How lucky have you been during the Lucky Weekend?

Other than Shamrock Ales and Four Leaf Clovers... have you had any other lucky drops or chests this weekend?

My chests have all been extremely sad... not a single useful item (all have gone straight to merchant). As for the drops... have noticed more dyes and mods dropping... but Blue Dye is the best I've gotten... and Defence +5 mods are the best of the mods. Nothing special so far. Mostly in Crystal Desert.

Have you had any luck with chests and drops?

Nothing special other than a gold from a tombs chest. I haven't really been trying though, I've been busy beating the game with the rest of my characters and don't other with events much (I did stop by The Henge though)

Actually, I've been really lucky. Got a (perfect) Sundering Gold Spatha earlier, found lots of stuff I've been looking for for collectors, and a lot of the shamrock/clover drops too. Got 2 14>50 inscriptions too. I also attended MesCon for like, 3-5 hours earlier, so that was a heck of a lot of fun. In short, we should have weekends like this more often

Through Sorrow's Furnace we got no greens. But it was more for the fun, not the farming.

Aside from that? Not a whole lot. Just some clovers and ale, nothing too special.

I think the entire lucky thing was an overstatement by our favorite vague and often misleading Gaile!
Oh I believe you do wonderful work Gaile
But in other respects your a kin to a GW version of tokyo rose.

By now we should all know the vague dramatic writings from the main site, the zealous almost addictive jabbering from the PR crew inrespect to weekends and events. Barely measure up to the events themself.
How many times have we been given clear and concise information in relation to an event?

My theory is there is no luck involved with this weekend or with the drops. Sure they increased the Glad points and stuff. They offer more brew to advance the almost impossible drunkard title (a title that slaps there own "no grind policy" in the face), and a nice lil clover. With the random chance to remove a percentage of DP and increase u lucky title.
But as for weapons and increased drops....

Don't try to hard, it is Guildwars after all.
(Hey I'm almost as vague as a PR rep, If your wondering I am currently unemployed Anet :P )

This weekend's "luck" is just all about the ale and clovers, and using said clovers to remove DP. Too bad I never die, though. Wts.

Around 100 clovers and ales each so far, a dozen assorted dyes, nearly a dozen gold drops, and a lot of runes. Plus two incribable non max tattooed scims for my monk (I have been waiting for one to drop for a long time and I got two today, yay!). Pretty darned good weekend for me.

I'm not entirely sure what you were all expecting. The site never said anything about increased rare drops or anything. PvE got the clovers and ales with the little shamrocks on them. Clovers are lucky, specifically four-leafed ones, hence the "bit o' luck" weekend.

Okay, reading over the announcement, I can sort of see how you might have been confused by this sentence:
Quote:
Plus, with a bit o' luck, PvE players may find a unique drop or two in missions and explorable areas.
However, when they announced that, I took it to mean there would be some St Paddy's day themed items drop. And then the scribe was released, explaining exactly what the items were going to be. I don't think the problem was with Anet being "vague" or "dramatic". I think the problem is with your reading comprehension, or not reading enough (if you had all read the scribe, I can't see how there could be any higher expectations than the neat shamrock items).

Actually....Yeah, where did it say "increased drops" anywhere?

And this weekend was pretty much what I expected: beer drops.

Bingo! If we increase the chance of drops, we tell you. If we double your XP, we tell you. Sometimes we add things and don't mention it -- the Icy Dragon Sword, the Ghostly Hero miniature come to mind. But there is no increase in drops or chance of gold items; that is not what is happening this weekend or I/we would have told you that. The "bit 'o luck" in the news post refers to the addition of two holiday items: Shamrock Ale and the 4-Leaf Clover. If you are lucky, you may get those items. And if you use the 4-Leaf Clover, you may get points on your Lucky title. Details further established in The Scribe. Seems pretty clear to me and sorry if someone misunderstood.

Gaile said, repeatedly, that this would be a small weekend, just a little fun. The community blew it out of proportion and speculated about green drops, leprechauns, quests, pots of gold, etc.

She's not always clear as crystal, but she didn't build our hopes up on this one; we did that to ourselves.

But unique and Unique are not the same thing at all. And it doesn't seem fair to not use perfectly surviceable and appropriate word because of the fact that it's used, somewhere, sometimes, as a proper noun.

If you think about it, St. Patrick's Day is just a single day, and the weekend runs just 60 hours. So the Shamrock Ale and the Four-Leaf Clovers do form a "unique" addition to one's inventory, you know, definitely not being something you're going to get any ol' day of the year.

1) It was a reply to this entire thread, that somehow ur entire game play for the weekend would be changed because of the lucky namesake!
I understood it wouldn't.
I expected mainly brew and perhaps shamrocks(but more in the form of red irises, doing nothing interesting)

2) Naturally people used the cryptic clues (sorry Gaile but u did fuel this, and Anet does it eveytime) to jump to conclusions.

3) Next time if your going to quote a post and assume its written under a certain context, atleast make sure your right! I was refuting the fact there was any added "luckyness" to the weekend.

4) Yes I hate the cryptic, vague and puzzle like style with which they unveil weekends and events, how about good olde fashion truth! Tell us whats going to happen and even what rewards were going to get. (would have save 100 of players buying mini pigs for 80k+ only to find out the easier to get than a lodestone!)

I think it will also help out the economy. These clovers will be very useful for DoA groups. Especially in the long quests and missions. This will definetly help out the party greatly.

Good job on weekend imo. Its not like this is a large holiday, its only st. pattys day. Green Buns at McDonalds woot!, wait...Thats everyday. My bad.

Yeup, very typical ANETese, and also good business for keeping the short attentioned kiddies salivating..... especially with the mention of "bit 'o' luck" and producing a "lucky aura." Reminds me of a quote, "the best lies are 90% truth and 10% error." It's still all very fun IMO, just a bit innervating listenning to all the b.s. the white lies produce in game.

It would be true luck to have something like gold items come up with at least max stats on each drop...... since ANET has saw fit way back to code in the garbage that changed that old nicety. The game sure seemed more fun back then. Still, to date, I am quite still having a good time and enjoy Nightfall more then Factions, but still a tiny bit less then Prophesies.

Happy St. Patrick's all.........

Actually, I didn't assume anything. My post was commenting on how the information on the GW website was very clear as long as you read it all and read it properly. Your post was about how Anet is always using cryptic, vague, or misleading information, which they really aren't. I've never had a problem with Anet's announcements. Sure, they sometimes say "There'll be a special surprise this weekend" but that's not cryptic, nor is it vague or misleading.

Also, my post was aimed at the entire thread, not just you. I quoted your post because of what I stated above.

You could have said "special items" instead of "unique", but that would have had many, many people speculating about some new, uber-leet, awesome skinned weapons that don't exist. And then they'd start a thread like this one that turns into people complaining that they didn't get what they expected (whether the OP intended it to be or not).

The way the announcement and the scribe were written was in the spirit of the holiday. The phrase "bit o' luck" was just a part of that and was in direct reference to the ales & shamrocks. If people haven't figured out that good drops have always taken "a bit o' luck," then they're not playing the same game I am. (3,000 hours played, 6 black dyes found - FTL, LOL )

I actually did a lot this weekend...did 2 runs in UW last night with my trapper and got 2 ectos and a Sup Vigor (from a phantasmal armor in a chest). Nothing outstanding, seemed to get the normal amount of golds and such. I did get my 'Devotee of Wisdom' title for my main character which was nice, it had me pretty stoked.

So a few of you guys are saying (and rather rudely, I might point out) that you will never accept anything but in-your-face, facts-and-only-facts messaging? That a little mystery, a fun bit of speculation is manipulative or rude in some other way entirely and utterly unacceptable. Thankfully, you don't make that decision. Consider how that could work:

So when you go to the movies, do you want the movie trailers for that big upcoming feature to say "This movie is coming, and the bad guys is X, and he will do A, B, and C, and ultimately meet his demise when the hero (who turns out the be F, and not G as you originally thought) does (this and that) to kill him."

You want your book flyleafs to say "This is a good book. You will like it because the traitor ends up being Mr. M, and that's revealed with hints on Page 96, paragraph 7, and Page 221, paragraph 4, when the protagonist says, [content of quote]."

You like walk-throughs of the game before you play it, and no discovery, no discussion, just "flat out, factual, there it is" on Day One. No, "who's the bad guy this time?" or "is that person going to end up being a friend or a foe?" Facts on a platter, and the sooner the better.

How boring!

well, I had fun and got some more ale for my monk to drink himself silly someday......a few clovers to put in storage.

[Only wish my other wish of better gold drops from monster bosses had been included ----still cant understand why a boss drops less gold than everyother monster in his party (or yes the single iboga blossom value 3gold from level 20+boss)....but thats another thread altogether.]

so lets sum up
ale=ok
clover=so-so
no new minipet=YEAH!
the fact that the ale and clover replaced some drops----hm, so-so

so total.....between above average to good weekend. thanks!
and the 'vagueness' of the pre-release pr.....does it real matter??? The weekend came and you found out what the hubbub was all about.....so the words for that are DONT SPECULATE!
