How easy is it to get Razah (assuming you have gems)
Sheriff
Hi,
I wanted to get Razah for my main (PvE) char. I understand that to get 4 gems I can either buy them or do Mallyx's quest.
Now I understand that Mallyx's quest is divided in 4 different cities and each takes around 4 hours to clear. I don't have that much free time in a row to play (work/family), so I won't go that route.
Assuming I can get the gems elsewhere (buying them for example on GoM), how long does it take to do the Razah quest, and how easy/difficult is it?
Thanks in advance!

Its not hard. ive done rayahs quest in around 30 mins with heroes + hanchies.

Dead easy only 1 carefull luring needed in the beginning, next it was clear sailing with me and my best friend and 6 hero's. Olias helps keep the mobs together with his minions, Melonni and Koss with holy damage, me and Zhed SF and my mate threw in SS for the fun of it And I had Dunkoro with a WoH and Tahlkora with a ZB build. took 15 min
And while you're at it, have a look at the environement, beautiful shaders on the teeths

Mister Muhkuh
indeed it is quite easy(since the monsters in there are not from DoA, but regular torment creatures)
the only problem is when you got 2-4 sf eles attacking the titan spawn at the end resulting in about 8 madness titans...
I have done this quest twice now, and it was easily doable(if you got good monks 2 are enough, otherwise take 3 hero monks)

If you take with you something to destroy allied spirits, its as easy as 1, 2, 3. Least i think that works. But yeah its just a few regular Torment mobs, nothing you shouldn't be able to handle. Could probably do it in 5 or 10 minutes if you cut out the need to actually kill the spirits when they went hostile.

could anyone help me with this i am having trouble with a hroe hench group and there is never anyone doing the quest in game...

Assuming that one dies while doing this mission, are there rez shrines? Or do you have to start over? If you have to start over, do you have to pay 4 more gems? That is the part that i'm the most worried about. I'm sure I'll do fine with my Holy Lightbringer, but just incase, i dont want to buy 4 more gems.
Marverick
Once you pay 4 gems, you can enter again anytime without paying more gems.
Quick question, is there ANYTHING remotely useful that I can make Razah do if I don't own Factions? Otherwise I won't bother getting him.

Hero skill points, meet Hero Skill Trainers. You can get a limited amount of a few more skills that way. =\
Marverick
Hmm do hero skill trainers have more skills? I've only been looking at the skills offered at the Balthazar Priest... maybe I'll check up on the hero skill trainers. I couldn't really find anything to synergize a build from the list of skills available at the Priest.

Heh, I finally got a Razah last night. The careful luring at the beginning is important...after that it's plain sailing.
At least it was until I went to kill the third spirit...Walked up to him, titans popped up. Fine. Started killing the titans and accidentally aggroed some Torment Creatures >.< D'Oh. So I backed off. Then, Joy of Joys! The Titans started fighting the Torment Creatures! The result was: Torment 1, Titans 0 I let the Torment Creatures wander off and then I went in to finish the last spirit.
Other than that stupid mistake, it's not really that hard at all.

I would tentatively suggest that Rt/A build with Spirit's Strength. I started a thread asking what Razah could / couldn't do well here, someone posted that build.
Also Weapon Spells could be a good use of him. Unstrippable ftw.

Ow.. I got loads of usefull and powerfull builds for Rt. They are the more powerfull character choice out there, no wonder Anet keeps nerfing them hard everytime.
One example is the Rt/A mentioned above, but u might also wanna try a Rt/P which can do the same damage amount, but ranged. Or try a channeling spiker with Caretakers Charge. Or try a Hexed Pain Fury Bloodsong Anguish Spirit spammer. Or just make him a strong healer or spririt weapon spammer. Too many options.
/vote for more Rt's
(btw, no wonder Rt is the hardest Hero to get, hes the most versatile and powerfull)

The quest is quite simple. It's usually the first mob that screws you over if you're not careful but after that, it's pretty simple.
Near the end of the mini-mission, when you get to the third spirit with the Titans, all I do is kill the spirit then book it back to Razah without the need to kill the Titans. That's what I did and it was done quite quickly.

I used a bonder (Thalkora) for the fights only problem is to set up all the bonds before the first group walks towards you.
The 4 Titans are really a pain but you can lure them back a little and kill their fist form. When the new titans rise from the dead ones just run away. They will stay at the place they were created and you can go and kill the spirit, completing the quest.

how did you "Hench" this since there are no henchis in this area? I would love henchies, but they are not available...

Last part of quest for Razah is not in DoA, so you have henchies.

Thanks for the clarification, I haven't gotten the stones yet, so I'm not sure what happens at that point...

I've confirmed with a guildie (did the quest with my monk and a friend's ritualist) that Consume Soul will destroy the guardians. So, when you're going through the groups towards Razah, simply destroy all three guardians before you get to him. That's... something like six groups of different sizes, and you're done. You won't need to fight the groups that spawn with the guardians later.
Soul of the Scythe
you guys know that they plan on getting rid of that quest right? They are gonna add a quest to get him, given by the Chaplain Phyratyss in Gate of Anguish, that does not involve gems and for anyone who already got him you will get a quest from the Keeper Shafoss in Abbadon's Gate called "Money Back Guarantee" that will give you your gems back.

Died a few times from the titan group. Got lazy and went upwards from the start, not left as usual so i could avoid one group of torment creatures. Came back after killing the other ghosts, activate the titan group then pull back to see if i can lure single ones. The torment creatures get close to the titans and i think "aw great now i got those to fight after all too". But instead of forming one big fat mob they start to bash their heads in and after some minute of me frolicking at the carnage from a distance all theres left are madness titans scattered all over who are easily lured single or in pairs and dispatched. Gave the ghost whatfor and went to live on with Razah happily thereafter

I must be missing something if this is 'easy',always get wiped at start point, wrong set up of chars' I guess...

yeah, this quest makes me feel useless lol
for some reason i cant kill the first group quick enough. i had a team of 2 SF eles, 3 monks, MM, Paragon tank and Earth [Heros and Hench], and tried the quest 5 times unsuccesfully. admittedly, i not very experienced in the Torment, but it still pisses me off.
ah well, i'll try again someday...

It's easy if you don't over aggro. If you over aggro, it gets quite hard.
DeXyre
or if you kill those big titans too fast... 8 madness titans is not fun to fight against...
Shadowlion
First, pull those demon groups BACK to the entrance then kill them, after it's all clear walk on, CLEAN every demon groups, do not try to avoid. then talk to Razah, the first 2 spirits are not hard, for the 3rd one, pull then run away, kill a Titan on the way, the spawn will not follow the others and come back. Kill the spawn, pull those Titans again, repeating the step until all 4 are dead.

Two keys to the Razah quest:
(1) At the beginning, don't immediately go after the first group of mobs (the ones around the spirit). Instead, back up almost to the exit, and wait for the second group to wander up towards you, past the first group. When they're close enough, pull them. After you've wiped them, pull the first group (don't go down to them, there's too much chance of aggroing the nearby third group while you're fighting them).
(2) Take a spirit killing spell (e.g. Gaze of Fury), and kill the spirits while they're still green, instead of going back to them after they turn red. That way you never have to deal with the popup guards around them.
