Inscription Quest idea.

Okay like see this.

I come across alot of clean weapons like req9 max dmg...usually useless to me and my party of heroes...(I dont get out much)
anyway, My idea is create a NPC who will live in Kodash Bazarr that offers inscription crafting into a clean weapon only. Making it blue. No golds,greens or purples. Nor armour.

This works only on Whites. Now in order for this to work.

1. You would have to take a quest. Called something like... "Messages in
Steel". You would have to go out far and find this item for him to craft an inscription slot into your weapons.

2. On completion of this quest you will be able to freely get inscriptions into white weapons at the cost of 2k. For every white weapon.The reason it's 2k is to stop liabilities like BULK-Inscriptions slowing down the server. I've already gone over the pro's and cons and this would make an excellent addition to the game.

3. If you are in a party of players. You will need to have gotten your copy of the quest item. There's no One for all bug here. That's cheating.

and last 2k is the default price...Any item inscripted stays inscripted and can't be sold to a trader nor does it become customised. Just inscripted with the inscription msg: Inscription: None. Becomes an empty inscription slot.Now I would like this added...I dont know a player worldwide who wouldn't want this.

Now remember Whites only. Includes Swords,axes,shields,staves,scepters,wands etc etc. No armour. Like leggings and boots etc etc. Just white weapons. That's it. No weapon in the game will be useless...Unless its not max damage...LOL. Oh yea..Weapons in Nightfall can only do this. Availible to Nightfall. Excludes weapons from FoW and UW. Since Chaos axe's and shadow weaponary are standard core items they will not be granted access to this system. It is only fair game. Otherwise weapon balances could be unstable.

Tell me what you think. Gaile I hope you see this..It's a player's dream.

Yeah, great idea. I really hate when I find a white max damage weapon with a nice skin and req but can't really use it because there's no inscription on it.
Would be much easier way to get some nice weapons for your Heroes.=P

exactly. This would be extra cool and would really help players out. I've limited it to keep it fair.

That essentially means you can have rare skinned weapons with perfect inherent mods.

Crafter and collector gear are there for a reason?

No you fool. Instead of wasting time searching on the net for collectors then going and farming those monsters endless for a few measly items so you can trade those items for weapons..hardly seems worth the trouble and there isnt a rare skin white in the game...Chaos axe and shadow weapons are not able to be inscripted. That's plain base. Now before you start flaming and posting ridiculous comments. read it all first.

Just seems to open up a Pandora's box to further devalue any "rare" NF skins. We already can make all max blues, purples, and golds into perfect weapons, now you want whites too?

Whites are suppose to be "shoddy" meaning like un-upgradeable...
So yeah, I'd rather stick to collectors or farm my ass off.

Master, he's not flaming, you are. And yes, there are rare skins that drop as whites. Heck, tattooed scimitars drop as whites all the time in istan; make them inscribable, and an (atm) rare and expensive caster weapon takes a nosedive in price.

It was just an idea thats it. I don't see any problems. So what rare skin means nothing. Look at the current up'gs..Dead swords can be farmed with ease. Gailes make the KOABD title easy to get to...What else is new...They want to nerf barrage again because some freek is complaining about gettin his ass pwned in PvP..This game is a PvE game...Nuff said.

Okay, I thought it was an interesting idea, but the other people who have spoken against it have some interesting points. Rare skins are important to the game to add some variety. Your idea would make some of those rare skins much more common, because it would drastically lower the price. Also, I'm more for an NPC for converting Factions and Prophecies armour to use insignias (although this will never happen).

Just one last thing. If you're not prepared for some people to disagree with your idea (which you're obviously not, judging by the flames), maybe you shouldn't post it. People are less inclined to agree with you if you don't present yourself properly. For instance, when I read your first post, I was thinking "Yep, this is an interesting idea. Pretty cool." but as soon as you called someone a fool just for disagreeing, I just instantly disliked your idea. It's not a conscious thing, it's just the way the human mind works.

On the topic of rare white skins, I've had several req 7 max damage fellblades drop for me in the pass from Tombs meaning I could have a 15^50 req 7 fellblade.

Your idea just makes people who can't afford a skin, get one - that's half the fun in the game, playing and earning that special gear. Everybody wants something for nothing.

Idk if I like this idea or hate it. I think if this were put in the game that the item would cost 5k to add an inscription slot to it, it should require materials (they are basically adding to the white weapon), it should become customized to the charater making the weapon, and it should be located at the end of the game. If those were the requirements to get this done I might agree to have this in the game, but it would take too much time for A-Net to do atm. The whole reason weapons have different colors or classes is because the rarity of those items. If everyone was going around with sephis axes and gloom shields people would want different weapons (ones that no one else has). If everyone had crystaline swords people would want a different sword because everyone has them. It all has to do with the game economy and supply and demand. And obviously the OP wants a specific rare skin weapon that he can just spend 2k on to get a perfect one, but part of the game is to get the special weapons, armor, etc. That's why they have collectors and armor crafters that sell stuff for cheap, it has the same stats as the other items in the game but it isn't as nice looking. If you want the stylish equipment go out and earn it.

Good idea glad you had an oppinion to make the game better, but I don't see this happening and I'm sure A-Net won't add this in seeings how they created the different color rarities for weapons.

There is no reason to keep inscriptions in Nightfall, and no reason to make inscribing so expensive...

Actually, it does, to quite a few people. Disregarding completely the only game left to rich veterans (read: trading for rare items) is not a good idea. That's one item, which mind you I've never even see drop as a blue, let alone a white, so it's not like this would effect the prices of dead swords much. It would however effect the prices of tattoods, as I've already said, as well as all rare shields and most other rare weapons.

2. Gaile doesn't "make" anything, she just tells us what the devs do.
3. How is it any easier than it's always been? They added a chapter, and with it a new Protector/Cartographer title to get? Well, they're going to keep doing that, which is why they added two tiers ABOVE KOABD.

No, it's not. It's a 50:50 split PvP/PvE, and the devs must spend more time fixing PvP than PvE, for the simple reason that PvE can still be fun if there are minor imbalances. PvP degenerates quickly.

sure let inscriptions be added to white items but for only 5k? nah. make it 10k-20k and stick it in the area after you beat abaddon. better money sink and it won't be such an easy service. this suggestion brings to mind that person who was buying up max whites of rare skins before nightfall came out because we heard we would be able to add inscriptions to them.

and btw, rare skins drop in all flavors including whites

kills the value of rare skins. I dont worry to much about the market over all but some do. Your "dream" is just that, yours. There are many who play this game and enjoy farming/selling, it adds to the experience. You would be taking away from them in this way.

And if you decide to try and flame me for this post....

What if the process automatically customised the weapon for use by yourself or your heroes.

The item could not be sold and would not overly affect the market and would allow some players access to otherwise over priced skins.
