What does 'random' mean?

I spent this past weekend capping and mapping in Southern Shivers. I also opened 37 chests. Does 'random' mean absolutely not getting a gold from a chest drop? The 2 black and 1 white dye made the time not a total loss, but it would have been nice to get a gold item or 2 from 37 keys.

I know this is rehashing past posts, but at this rate a couple of titles will be impossible.

i have always had awful drops from shiver chests like 1/15 or something at its worst. maybe try a different area.

There's a chance of not getting a Gold from a chest.

I'm not sure if each subsequent run through the same area over and over again, until you go elsewhere, still dulls the chances of good chest drops though.
