Is it me or are greens ugly?

I have looked through the wiki, and seen many greens. With very few exceptions they are in my opinion, goofy looking and many are pretty much worthless seeing as they have sucker punches to the stats (-x armor etc).

I looked at all the nf stuff and only the hand of the forgotten looked decent. The shields are goofy looking, the sword looks like shiros, and the axe.. man I gave it for my hero..lol

Am I alone in this? I also looked up the crystaline sword, and it's really goofy looking.. Is this just a cruel joke played on us by the devs?

Well as far as the helmut goes no arguement there. I have since made it hidden always..

As a graphic artist by trade I just wonder where their heads where when a lot of these were designed.

well the only difference is the looks...so why not get something that looks a bit different than what everyone else has...and most greens have the same skins as other weapons found in the game its just they have permenant stats...although there are a few truely "unique" items but not many...I don't think greens were ever meant to be the "ultimate" weapons...they were meant to be somewhat easily/cheaply obtainable items with good mods

It really is personal preference, some people LOVE the crystalline skin, some do not. -x armor is bad, UNLESS it is combined with +15% damage always (my personal opinion).

Not where your head would have been and there's nothing wrong with that.

The weapon designs are art. Art is very subjective.

Just like this thread, eh?

I don't think a few of them are ugly, I just wish they'd all have unique skins.

I also wish some of the warrior weapons were larger, since big people need big weapons. Rawr!

And as an artist you don't realize that what one person finds dumb, another person may find beautiful. I'm sure if you posted your art here, there would be people saying the same thing you are, but about your own art.

And can you please show me all these greens with worthless stats? What ones have negative armor? Not many thats for sure, with how many greens there are, if you don't like the stats on one sword, theres sure to be another that has stats that you would prefer instead.

The green weapons are so ugly that they ruin the game! They dont fit in the game and are more at home in WoW!

.....I don't think they're all ugly at all. I only have an issue with not enough variety of stats/different requisites on greens.

I've always thought that they are supposed to be ugly to not ruin the markets and disappoint people who spend money on rare skins.

If you want a good looking weapon, buy a skin that you like, with the stats you like.

@Vilaptca - The -10 armor ones are The Ugly Stick hammer and Kai's Sword.

As to the art, enter the current Design a Weapon contest if you think you can do better. From the last contest, the Dragoncrest Axe is one of the most beautiful weapons I have ever seen in any game.

Meh... I quite like most of the NF weapons, it's all opinion I guess.

It's just a shame the stats suck. (seriously... do we need 3 sundering, 15^50 +30 green swords? Ebon next time plx)

I agree with Vilaptca, i pretty much like all the armors in the game. As an artist, i think depends on what you want your character to be (i said this before already). If i had a male warrior, i would want to buy the 15k luxon armor, thats what i would like to my character to BE. Im not saying i would want to get the Ancient armor, but im not saying its horrible like some morons say it (no offense), but if i didint had the 15k luxon, i would go for the Vaabian. I have a female warrior, and i use the 15k imperial, not the Primeval (like 90% of the wars do).
That depends on what you want your character to BE.

I personally dont like most of the Green itens (except for Unges of the Oni and the Dwayna's Scythe).
They all have common skins, and none of them really look good, at least for none of my character.
I use a collector's staff (Jeweled Staff) for my mesmer and i could use a Zodiac Staff, but its just like the armor, must look good for the type of character want him to be.

I just dont know why there isnt a staff/icon that gives +1 channeling.

Yes, they are.
They are weapons for "poor" players that cant affor buying all mods or rare skins.

A victos blade goes for 7k at most, you cant get 7k for a vampiric, 15%^50 and +30 req9 sword

Some greens are very cool.....my necro'd be lost w/o her blue straw effigy, like a blue voodoo doll.......and the Willcrusher is a wicked looking mezzie staff imho. I don't use many myself but some are pretty. Tons of greens are just like other skins dyed. Like state above ^^ design is a form of art...art is subjective. Eye of the beholder etc etc

Umm the Gavel of the Nephilim was a winner of the design a weapon contest. If you think it looks ugly, blame the player community (aka us) for not being able to come up with a better design.
Plus, you really have to zoom in on that hammer and see some of the detail to really appricate it.

You are a graphic designed yet fail to realise beauty is in the eye of the beholder. While I absolutely hate modern art many others like it. While some dislike greens many like them.

Nothing wrong with -10Al either. I have alot of -10Al, -5 Energy etc weapons and they work fine.

Sorry can't let this go. Van Gogh was an Expressionist (a long way from abstract art). You can probably count on the fingers of one hand the people who don't like his art.

I like most of the greens. They have put alot of effort into most of the skins and they look gorgeous.

But my personal opinion is that elemental weapons get the rare end of the deal.

Elemental fire weapons for instance; they always just re-use the bog standard staff and wand skins that we get from common drops.

Air, earth and water greens tend to look alot nicer then fire gear. They look unique. The only unique item we get for Fire is Ragos.

Victos Blade is one of the most beautiful greens in GW, even though it's just an already "known" skin, the shadow blade, albeit, less impressive in size than it should be. Watch the Shadow Warriors and compare.

It's van Gogh but your point is clear indeed.

As for the guy who started this thread, Mr Enchanted Warrior, I did seem to remember you from a thread recently where you were moaning and bitching about a mission saying you were gonna quit the game and play something else....

Is that your reason to be on this forum? Just to start negative threads?

@Divinus Stella - Gavel of the Nephilim was also one of the winners in the last Design a Weapon contest.

They seem to give new greens the most popular stats, thus the sundering. For some strange reason, the majority of players seem to think this is a great upgrade for a weapon. The "perfect stats" seem to be 15^50 sundering +30hp according to what is selling at the highest prices for melee golds. This is the downside of ANet paying attention to the player chat and forums.

Like most people have said, the weapon's beauty is a matter of opinion, me for exmaple thinks that the Ugly Sticks it a skin of beauty (how ironic) I love to grab that hammer a run around screaming "Me smash" (Caveman style). Also, I love the Rago/mindclouder skin, jeweled staff FTW I guess. I agree with Darcy about the popular stats idea (sine the NF end of game daggers were all 15^50 Zealous +30HP, consider to be best dagger stats by many)

Ever since the greens came out, I told myself I wouldn't ever use one unless (1) they had a beautiful skin that was unavailable on a gold or collector weapon or (2) I completed a mission, quest or skill cap and earned that green myself.

To date, I think the only green that I have and use regularly are the Wayward Wands that I earned from the completion of Factions. I would love to have an Urgoz's Longbow, but just can't get over the fact that a Flatbow with RtW or FW is superior to the Longbow. I guess the old function over appearance still gets me...

Personally, I'm not too interested in what the skin on my weapon looks like as long the item works. If I want something with particular stats, I farm the collector drop and get it that way. If I do get a green though, I usually just sell it or put it on a hero.

I have to admit, however, that some of the skins looks quite nice. I personally like Mallyx's Reaver, even though I'm not a big Warrior fan.

Say ... you're an artist, right? Have you ever considered designing something for the Design-a-Weapon contest (which has to be postmarked by March 30th)? Who knows! Your design might actually make it into the game.

Beauty isn't always in the eye of the beholder in what it looks like. People do like things, and think they are "beautiful" just because of what it does.

Ahhh, this reminds me of a argument of Socrates against Euphiroro(sp) about beauty. I know how to say his name but cant remember how to spell it. Ancient Greek names are always hard to spell.

I have no complains about the skins, but for god's sake Anet should do something about the size of the warrior's and assassin's weapons. Each passing chapter it seems to be getting smaller and smaller.

Read the edit. But when it comes to beauty its usually based on what something is seen rather do. Hmm, wanted to point that out, but maybe I assumed to much on what people thought. From what I read during this thread, a lot of people are telling others, that from what It looks like doesn't always suit someone's taste and suit to another person. Where some can reject that idea of what it looks like, and only like for what it does.
