Suggestion to Make the World Map More Interactive
RSGashapon
Now, this probably won't be implemented in GW1 any time soon (or perhaps at all), but it could make for a nifty feature in GW2.
The idea is to make the world map (the 'M' map) to be continuous across all campaigns and displayed as a globe instead just a flat map. It would be similar to the Google Earth tool. This assumes the world of Tyria is indeed spherical, rather than just a flat world like the Earth was thought to be in ancient times. It would give the impression your character is part of something much bigger than just some rectangular zone, to really say "I am here!"
The interface would be scrollable and zoom-able just like it is now, but rendered in 3D and also rotatable. We don't know yet what lies across the vast oceans of Tyria or how far the continents expand, so the globe would probably have to be limited to a certain range of movement, maybe 120 degrees of rotation at most. For those who still have only one or two campaigns, the areas they cannot reach (Cantha for example) would remain enshrouded.
To fit in with the theme of Guild Wars, the map could be designed to look more like the globes of old rather than a completely accurate, topographical map of the modern era, something like this:
So yeah, it's basically Google Tyria with an old-style look. Sound cool?

this looks really cool I'd probably suggest when selecting a certain continent on the GW globe e.g tyria you should have an option either keep it like the globe while looking at it or the classic rectangle.

You just cover with clouds the areas that do not exist already... and done.

i like this idea alot, it would be very useful and more satisfying to people than the current map in GW1

I hate the current map and having to go from factions to LA so that i can run around in proph. If a guildy needs help on another continent it takes forever to get there sometimes. I would be happy with simple map tabs that let you switch from one to the other but the globe is a nice touch.
