Unofficial Guru GW2 question thread?

This whole post will sum up my biggest concern:

Guild Wars 2 will feature new playable races, and one amongst them the Charr. We've all known the Charr to be our greatest enemies in the original Guild Wars.

This fact brings up the question: "Will there be Good and Evil factions in Guild Wars?"

I ask this because I don't want to be segregated from my Human friends simply because I am a Charr. I want us all to be able to play together and how we want, without "lore" forcing us to be enemies.

While I was a little worried at first, I was comforted - albeit it slightly - by Gaile's comment:

...Of course, she's referring to being able to play with anyone across the actual World. Not to in-game races.

This is my only fear about Guild Wars 2: An in-game divide between players by a forced opposition because of in-game race. I just want to be a good guy and play as who looks cool, and be able to adventure with any sort of race I want.

Well, I assume we'll find out more, but I assume the Charr are now "friendly", kind of like the Klingons finally joining the Federation.

I hope so, anyway. I want to play a Charr Shaman, and I hope I won't be punished in game because of it!

How will Guilds work, Charr and Humans in the same guild?

Yes, I believe that's right. If I understand the article right, the different races will work together to beat common enemies, sort of like they're supposed to do later in GWEN. (There might still be conflict and potential for soe "friendly battles", but I don't think there really will be a "good vs bad" thing going on.)

Of course, I can only do the same we all can at this point - speculate. ^_^

My questions are simple..

1) Will the focus be on farming, and selling like it is now? Or will the focus be placed on playing the game?

2) Will there be nerf after nerf everytime someone either loses in pvp or exploits things?

3) Will there be someway of stopping the ebayers from ruining the game like they did in gw1?

4) Will we be able to finish ALL missions/quests on our own and not be forced to ask other players for help or do without? (using heroes, henchies etc) Or will there be FOTM builds that only get invited and the rest get told to piss off?

5) Will the focus be on pleasing the elites and forgetting all that paid for the game?

6) Will gW go to .... with no loot and mega difficulty in hopes people will run to gw2? (you know, like you did when nightfall came out, you turned off the loot in prophecies and factions)

Obviously I would not be one to buy it when it comes out, I'll wait a few months and read the feedback and posts.

I know this should probably be in some other thread already circulating around, but I feel this needs its individual attention.

Will expansion classes from Faction and Nightfall be in GW2? I'm assuming no one knows the answer at the time, but its and interesting thing to think about. Assuming they include them, how will they fit? If the game doesnt cover Cantha and Elona, they might seems totally out of place. How exactly would these professions that are only trained on specific continents be located in Mainland Tyria? They could ignore the lore totally or say it all combined during the peace after Abbadon's fall. Or they could think of other things.

More importantly, how would a Charr assassin seem? Or a Norn Paragon. Or a Asuran Dervish. These pairings seems a little awkward to me, though others like a Sylvari ritualist make more sense. And if they don't put them in? I doubt they would do that, but its a possibility. They could also refine the ideas of the classes (i.e making the dervish a halberd wielder, different way of chants, etc.)

So what are all your thoughts on this?

Personally I'm in favor of them keeping the classes, but refining them a little to fit the lore.

Heck, for all we know, there might not be core classes in GW 2. They might rethink and redesign and come up with whole new professions.

ie, warrior = weapons master
ranger = gunsmith
elementalist = magi

etc etc. Think outside the box people. A whole new game means a whole lot of new possibilities.

Maybe it will be split such as, and I hate doing this, WoW. Charr couldnt become Sins etc.

But who knows. ANet has over a year to figure it out.

EDIT: Or better yet, the "traits" of the race would make them better suited for a particular class. But any class could be chosen.

Yeah I'd hate it if they made race-restricted classes, it'd be racist! Of course they'd bring in lore to defend themselves. But if I see no reason why I can't be a Norn Assassin.
