patch for Windows Vista
Mr_Shotgun
When I wrote Guild Wars Technical Support this was the reply I received.

"Thank you for contacting Guild Wars Technical Support. Unfortunately, Windows Vista is not a supported operating system for Guild Wars. The only supported operating systems are Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 98, and Windows ME. You might be able to play without any problems, but we cannot be sure how the game will work on an unsupported OS. You would need to switch to a supported OS for us to assist you with this issue. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Regards,
Guild Wars Technical Support"

That is a piss poor response. MY NEW DELL COMPUTER CAME WITH WINDOWS VISTA AS ALL NEW COMPUTERS BOUGHT FROM NOW ON WILL. So get over your self and make the patch for Windows Vista, and stop being a jerk! Unless you are going to buy and give away other versions of windows make the damn patch.

This point was brought up before vista was even released. A lot of people are holding back on vista 'til compatibility issues are addressed. Maybe you should have thought about it ahead of time...

Wow... It doesn't support Vista?
Thats odd...
But it's basically your problem. I mean, if I make my own personal computer operating system I can't expect them to make a patch for it...
But yeah, I think they should.
So, basically I am saying, I think they should, but its their choice to do so, and if they don't, its kinda your oversight. And they have a valid reason to not do it.
-Edit- Fixed Spelling error.

It does work with Vista. By Support, they mean that if theres a problem they wont help you. If you have ever ventured into the technical forum you will find that there are no problems with Vista.

Recently, the Guild Leader in my guild had her computer broken. She didn't play for nearly a month, until she got a new computer with Vista, and it works better then ever. Just try Guild Wars with Vista, it worked for her.

GW works fine for me on Vista Ultimate, Gaile did they are working with Microsoft to get the game certified for Vista.
edit maybe you can tell us what the problem is?
Also calling people jerks won't get them to help you any faster or at all with that attitude.

I don't know, I thought Vista would at least work with most games out there.

It does for a large number of games, keep it mind that your video drivers and other drivers and software for vista are still in their beta versions so compatibility issues might come from there.

GW is running awesome in Windows Vista Ultimate x64 for me. In fact, it works fabulously.
Some details on the problem would help a lot.

This is usually the case with all new operating systems. When Windows XP first came out, stuff didn't work well on it either. Many users held off upgrading for a while until all the kinks are worked out.
The biggest problem with these new operating systems is that nobody knows who is at fault:
1) Perhaps there is a bug with GuildWars that makes it not run correctly.
2) Perhaps there is a bug with your video card (or other hardware) drivers that makes it not run correctly. Most video cards are still on beta drivers for Vista, and even the ones that have released non-beta ones are still very fresh.
3) Perhaps Vista is at fault for not having proper backwards compatibility.
I'm not going to flame Microsoft. They don't make the hardware and they don't make the video card drivers (this is probably the main reason why Apple computers are generally considered more stable, they don't have 3rd parties assembling their computers with random parts, Apple chooses what parts to use). GuildWars does work for many computers that have Vista installed. It's impossible for them to test GW on every single hardware configuration.
My guess is that you will have to update your video drivers or wait for new ones. In general, it is the video card company that will be making the fixes because GW does run on most Vista configurations.

Op: What's wrong with your GW? Is it the graphic, sound issues etc? Can't really blame Anet really seeing that they do not support Vista yet. Right now there're a lot of un-compatible problems with a lot of drivers. Nvidia for example, series 9 driver still not 100% working correctly. A lot of old games '05 upward simple won't work on vista, KOTOR series for one.
If you post the problem that you're having, maybe someone here can help you out.

He's probably getting an Id:10t error. It's pretty common with new Vista users who are switching over from Mac or your average wammo.

Sheesh...
OK, let's start simple: GW Works just fine on Vista. Better than on XP in terms os stability; framerates are the sma efor me.
DO you know what QA is? "Quality Assurance" -- it's the testing phase for a piece of software, and it has to happen before GW can be "supported" on Vista. Hundreds of hours of testing, given the compleity of GW. Until thenm NCSoft/ANet have no idea what issues (if any) might need support.
Based on your response to NCSoft in one of your otehr threads, I'll bet you're one fo those people who complains about every little bug in a program, yet who won't wait one second for people to do proper QA.
As it stands, GW runs perfectly on Vista.

I think most of the getting certified for Vista that ANet talks about is probably more paperwork and process than anything. And drivers are a really big problem, and I'm with everyone else in that I suspect that's the issue here.

GW does work in windows vista with the exception of EAX which is an issue with Creative labs and vista, not guildwars.
Vista requires more higher system requirements if GW ran fine on XP with the same machine using Vista it should be fine. If it barely ran / did not run well, it's going to run worse on Vista.
In one of Gaile Chat, the did mention there going to alter GW / make sure it passes "Certified for Vista"
There are a lot of issues with specific hardware, drivers and software with Vista for the fact it's different and new.
What specific issues are you having with GW and Vista?

Check out: http://www.extremetech.com/; they ran tests on about 20 games running on Vista. GW was one of them, and they state they had no problems with it.
Someone asked earlier; what problem are you having with it? or, are you asking for future reference?
