Can someone in the know provide any information about how the guilds themselves will be handled in moving from GW to GW2? Will the guild name be reserved for the guild leader? Will members that move characters forward keep their same guild standing and rank in the new game? What if the guild leader hasn't yet bought GW2, will an officer or member of an established guild be able to create the fellowship in GW2?

While I wouldn't expect the hall's appearance to stay the same, will an established hall survive the centuries, or will it (and the NPC's in it) have to be purchased with gold acquired in the new game?

interesting question. I would hope a guild leader would get reserve on the name.

Not to derail but I just thought of something about guilds that I hate in the current game and I wouldn't mind seeing change. What about allowing individual characters to join different guilds. I like expanding my network of friends in a game. I also hope that membership in GW1 does not mandate membership in GW2.

Well seeing as guilds don't "live" in the sense that people do , they would never die.
So even 200 years in future the guild should exist , the descendants of the people in the guild now would all be part of the guild.
So yes good question and i hope it is how i think it is.

At the moment no-one apart from ANet & the GW2 development team know the answer's to these question's. I would suggest that the answer's to these, and many other, question's will come when they officially announce GW2 and publish information on it - at the moment the only information and announcement on GW2 is from the PC Gamer magazine.

And since anything said right now is pure speculation as we just don't know..
