I've read that NCSoft prepaid game cards can be used for any NCSoft title (eg. a Lineage 2 60 day time card can be used for City of Heros and visa-versa), so how about being able to use them to get credit in the Guild Wars in-game store?
It's safer than useing a credit card, and much more widely available.
I'm not trying to disrepute NCSofts security measures, just suggesting an option for the paranoid and credit-rating-challenged players to use the store.

Pre-paid card are for monthly fee games. No need for guildwars. It's free. If buy pre-paid for a campaign then what's the point? go to the store buy a game, much easier then go to best buy then enter the code blah blah blah...!!!

I know that prepaid cards are for pay-to-play games, my suggestion is for NCSoft to allow these cards to also be used in the GW in-game store.
I'm talking about buying a prepaid card, entering the code and recieving a credit balance at the in-game store. This could then be used to purchase extra character slots, PvP editions, the Prophecies 1 million edition upgrade or even any chapters you don't own if your local retailer is out of stock.

Definitely.
Those of us who don't have access to a Credit Card, or don't want to bind their account to a PlayNC account, should still be able to get the benefits of the ingame store.

Mostly useful for character slots, which is still pretty useful.
I don't have a credit card, and plenty of other folks out there wouldn't want to use one online. Pre-paid code cards would fix this.

Game cards were brought up some time way back, Gaile said that it was a matter of economics: there is a large expense involved with making/distributing/selling gamecards and versus selling just copies of the game. Had to do with profit margins, etc.
While, it is true that the online store is largely useless to someone without a credit or debit card, you can most likely use a Visa gift card or something.

The Visa Gift card is a prepaid card that can be used at millions of locations where Visa debit cards are accepted, including retail stores and online merchants. Because it is a prepaid card, spending is limited to the amount of money placed on the card by the purchaser. |

The expense of making/distributing/selling prepaid game cards isn't really valid in this case. I'm not saying make new ones for GW, I'm saying let us use the ones that are already available. NCSoft already has the cards on the market, the only cost involved would be in setting up the store in a way to accept the cards.
Perhaps if I give a descriptive example.
- John-boy wants to buy a character slot and the Prophecies "1million edition" pack but he doesn't have a credit/debit card.
- He visits his local EB/Walmart/Bestbuy/whatever and buys a Lineage2 '60 day game card' for $29.99. (I don't know how much they actually cost, don't nitpick )
- He takes the card home and logs in to the store, and enters the code on the card.
- Instead of gaining 60 days worth of play for GW (Duh!), John-boy's GW account gets $29.99 credit to spend at the in-game store.
- John-boy buys his slot and 1 mil pack, and any remaining credit sits in his account untill he makes another purchase.

Oh, sprry for misunderstanding. Sure this will not harm anything but I think it will depend on how many people need/use this. Most people just use credit card to pay for it. Go to the store for pre-paid card is not needed as it will be in $10, $20 and in the in game store prices are $9.99. It's a much better idea to ask Anet to make their own credit card. By that way, it will be much easier to buy things by just adding money into the bank account!
