Why do we need 100+ levels.

Think on broader terms. GW1 sold a few million copies. Not bad. By adding in a jillion levels, they'll probably lose less than 1% of their customers, even though more than 50% of the people probably liked the level 20 cap better. What will this accomplish? It will pull people away from another game, which I won't mention because if I do, people will just say how it's been mentioned repeatedly. Why pull them away? Because this other game sold much more games. Why will it pull them away? Because this nameless game has a bunch of happy grinders who pay a significant monthly fee to grind away for levels and elite gear. Now these people have lost their jobs, lives, wives, husbands, probably their kids, dogs, cats, ability to function in society, all because they have to get on and grind, grind, grind. So as an act of kindness, GW2 will accomodate them... without a monthly fee even. Sales will rise!
But what about GW1 players? Well, some will adapt and become grinders. Some will get fed up and leave. Some will play when they can and just not care about levels. Can't really blame them. From a business sense, the gain is well worth the loss.
In all actuality, I love the new game idea. Just not the level cap. It's the only thing that bothers me. Even if there is no difference between a level 20 person and a level 100 person besides the numbers 21-100, people will still become a gaming addict
just for the number. This is the same community that had people stock up with 500k worth of tickets and stand inside a circle getting knocked down for a whole weekend just to get level 1 of a title.
So, I love the new idea. I hate the new level cap. I will still buy the game and praise ANet for the good work they do. There is, however, one tradgedy in all of this. For the next TWO YEARS, Riverside Inn will be reduced to "OMG Ooooo Norn!!!!1"
