That's what I've been thinking all along

The "earned" weapons could also be things like the wintergreens that were given to tournament winners during the holidays.

And "clothing" could equate to hats as easily as it equates to armor.

Neither of those things would be unbalancing for a 1st level character to start off with.

I know a lot of ppl rejecting the removing of lvl cap but if you just take a look at GW1 you will see that highest boss lvl is 30 (excpet Glint), lvl cap at 20 limits the creativity of PvE, as you see most of the mobs across GW1 world are easy to beat and repetitive, the introduction of Heroes made it more easy.

When ANet developers found how easy UW/FoW are (55/SS dual or soloing) they introduced this sick enviromental effects invent just to go around lvl cap limit issue (since they can't raise mobs lvl more than 28-30 due to their HP/Energy/insane high attributes resulting ridiculous insane spikes). This made PvE more boring imo, addition to that the limiting of armor stats, weapon stats, attribute points and their allocation system...etc. of sake of PvP balance.

Nerf after Nerf of nice skills for the sake of PvP and at the end your hands still tightened with lvl cap, weapon stats...etc. This made PvE more boring and unbearable comparing to other PvE of other MMORPGs in market.

And removing the level cap would fix this... how? By giving the players higher levels and letting them kill these bosses even easier?

No what made PVE boring is that in general it's just a matter of clicking skills and killing them. They were easy enough that most builds will beat PVE mobs. No strategy or tactics involved for the most part. It's easy enough that you can build a solo build to farm these areas.

And the fact that everything was instanced. This made EVERYTHING the same in a given instance. It was all very static and boring that way.

So no, raising the level cap does not make PVE more fun. It only gives people who dont know better the illusion of fun. And as for nerfs? They hardly affect anything in PVE.

Being easy doesnt necessarily mean boring though. The problem is that PVE in GW is easy AND repetitive. And THAT's the problem.

According to the Danish magazine, Pc Player, Halls of Monuments will be located in an operation base, similar to the Command Post near the Sunspear Sanctuary.

I'm starting to think they may have gotten the idea for the Hall of Monuments from all those suggestions for personal rooms in guild halls

There is portion between your lvl and mobs lvl, did i say leave mobs at lvl 30 max while we lvl up to lvl 100 ? No..

Mobs have monster skills, high armor penetration, massive dmg output, hoardes of lvl 28 and enviromental effects (i'm talking about Elite missions). On the other hand you are tightened with no. of party, attributes, skills that getting hit by nerf bat becasue of PvP abuse...etc.

How many pages does the Guild Wars EotN/2 article have in PC Zone?
Deciding whether or not to get this month's.. as the Asura miniature code is in the next issue. £6 for the minipet is fair enough (for me), but £12 to get the info as well is not good value for money. I have the Grey Giant issue and everything in it was uninteresting, maybe I'm too accustomed to Edge's quality writers.

Hi, welcome to Guild Wars. In this game you have seperate instances, low level caps and easy access to weapons so you don't have to grind, and seemingly realistic characters. Apparently this is the thing that sets Guild Wars apart from World of Warcraft, but that doesn't matter. We want to be like every other game and offer higher level caps for more grinding. Oh and also, we want you to be able to camp a monster site for a while and steal each others kills (granted there are seperate instances also). Cute characters?, we have those too!

Welcome to World of Guild Wars!

Think on broader terms. GW1 sold a few million copies. Not bad. By adding in a jillion levels, they'll probably lose less than 1% of their customers, even though more than 50% of the people probably liked the level 20 cap better. What will this accomplish? It will pull people away from another game, which I won't mention because if I do, people will just say how it's been mentioned repeatedly. Why pull them away? Because this other game sold much more games. Why will it pull them away? Because this nameless game has a bunch of happy grinders who pay a significant monthly fee to grind away for levels and elite gear. Now these people have lost their jobs, lives, wives, husbands, probably their kids, dogs, cats, ability to function in society, all because they have to get on and grind, grind, grind. So as an act of kindness, GW2 will accomodate them... without a monthly fee even. Sales will rise!

But what about GW1 players? Well, some will adapt and become grinders. Some will get fed up and leave. Some will play when they can and just not care about levels. Can't really blame them. From a business sense, the gain is well worth the loss.

In all actuality, I love the new game idea. Just not the level cap. It's the only thing that bothers me. Even if there is no difference between a level 20 person and a level 100 person besides the numbers 21-100, people will still become a gaming addict just for the number. This is the same community that had people stock up with 500k worth of tickets and stand inside a circle getting knocked down for a whole weekend just to get level 1 of a title.

So, I love the new idea. I hate the new level cap. I will still buy the game and praise ANet for the good work they do. There is, however, one tradgedy in all of this. For the next TWO YEARS, Riverside Inn will be reduced to "OMG Ooooo Norn!!!!1"

you left out the one truly important item.

NO MONTHLY FEE

every poll/thread at every site that had one from the start has had almost the same result. (by a landslide)

*START CHARGING TO PLAY AND I QUIT*

none of the things you mention are even in the running compared to no monthly fee

Thats exactly how i feel about it. I think GW will be too big of a game to stop playing just for the fact that there are no lvl caps. The only way i wouldn't buy is if the reviews for it sucked horribly. But i think people should say what they don't like about it and give them suggestions.

Certainly bro. Usually suggestions get buried here though. Someone probably suggested this already but I didn't see it.

Increase the levels slightly if you have to, like perhaps up to level 30 or 40. Don't be afraid to use something that works (like from another nameless game I never played). Perhaps 2 years down the road in an update the level cap can increase by 5 or 10, or even 15. I doubt people would complain that far down the road since they'd have probably been level 30 for well over a year. For instance, I doubt anyone would complain too loud if GW1 characters were allowed to gain 5 levels in an update, retroactive so all your 'extra' levels since level 20 count. Most folks would just log in to be level 25. It might even be prudent with hard mode.

This would show people who want a higher cap, and people who want a lower cap, that ANet is willing to offer a cool compromise. They could adjust the skill levels of the monsters with the same update.

Another idea I had is about the races. If there will be professions, which we haven't heard that there will be, stagger them based on race. This would be in addition to any racial bonuses. For instance, say 30 is the level cap, have it to where humans can hit level 30 in any profession. Then take a war-like race like the Charr and make it so they can hit like level 32 in Warrior/Ranger/Assassin, level 30 in Ritualist/Monk, and only level 28 in Necro/Ele/Mesmer. Reverse it for a knowledge based race like the Forgotten. Anyhow, this is just an idea I don't care about. The one about not a huge increase in levels, I do care about. And my idea for that may not be the answer, but I'd be happier with something non-grindworthy like we have now.
