Guild Wars Guru 2
Dfx Gladiator
With all the chat about chapter 2, races, things that will move from gw1 to gw2, etc... I think we are forgeting something important!
Will there be another Guild Wars Guru just for Guild Wars 2? Feel free to give ur opinions.

I'm thinking yes. The game will be different enough to warrant it.
And it'll likely also be on the Guru network, just like CoX Guru and WoW Guru.
Makes sense to me, anyway.

i dont believe there should be an all new forum
maybe a rearanging of the curent fora...
section for gw1 and section for gw2
but even that is something that should not be done right now this instant.
it can wait for at least another year ore more (around the time the beta is on, from that time a forum could exist about the game) (keep in mind that during the beta there probably will be a NDA in place to keep everyone from spilling precious ingame info to the outside world)
so i conclude: new forum NO, devide this forum in 2 sections YES, timeframe? well somewhere in 2008(earlier is useless since all it can host would be speculations)

I think there would need to be a separate forum when GW2 does finally arrive to avoid all the confusion and the clutter. Imagine the SELL forums for instance. We'd need two separate for those, so what's the point? Might as well completely make a different board for GW2.
The Herbalizer
i think there will be gwg1 and gwg2 and hopefully you can use account for both as its a pain otherwise

That decision wont be made until the game is actually released, of course. It depends on how much 'new' information comes out of the game. If there is a massive amount of info, or if the info may conflict with the construction of GW1, then there will definately need to be another forum to accomodate this.

Someone asked a similar thing about the wiki. I think that since ANet has decided to host their own wiki now, they'll probably host a GW2 wiki meaning we should probably all hop onto that one when the time comes to avoid having 2 separate databases.
Terra Xin
Well Anet are also considering to have their GuildWiki intergrated into the game, so it will be easier to look up specific information without leaving the game.

I seriously doubt it, you don't know how much effort it takes just to keep this Guru up and running.
2 Guru's would mean:
Another server
Double the mod staff
Double the admin staff
Guru will just expand to fit in GW2, it's the only viable option IMO

Expand to fit GW2 and have the server even laggier than normal? Guru already loads slow as heck and has database errors daily.
I'm all up for a new server.

I'm all up for a new server. Who is going to pay for this new server? If I remember correctly Inde said a new server would be around $3000 (thats a big if) I'm sure she will correct me if I'm wrong.
So, who's paying? anyone? didn't think so.
The fact of the matter is, any new server has to come out the pockets of the Admin staff and by a smaller degree those that contribute to Guru by signing up to the Elite/Core membership.
I see none of you helped out, but are crying for a new forum aka server...

That was not the intention of my post, I just wanted to hear some opinions so don't speak in plural.

Way to take the thread out of context Malice. Noone is crying for anything, but these are the opinions of such possibilites that can happen. It's not as though you guys are incapable of holding the additional information on the existing GwG.
If you could even explain as to how you would need another server in the first place, when the number of existing members isn't going to double on the night before the game's release, then I'll... give you a cookie I suppose. You also do not need to double the number of admin or moderation staff, even GwG never started with the number of staff they have now.

There's too many elements that we don't know about GW2 to merit the idea of a new forum, at least to this point. I'm sure the idea will be reviewed at the appropriate time, though, given enough information to deduce whether gw2 will be as radical a departure from conventional GW mechanics as it's being made out to be.
