ok probably a dumb question but i am just wondering why doesnt moding weapons increase their value?
i mean if it doesnt why does soo many people even bother with making perfect weapons and selling them then?

to save time. mostly, the general player will want 20/20 sundering and +30hp on his/her weapons (aka "perfect"). what would you choose? would you buy a clean item when you could get the same item but with the mods you want right away? it just saves time for the sellers as the item is more likely to be sold quick if it's "perfect". hope that helps. even though 20/20 and +30hp upgrades are fairly expensive, gold items with these mods on tend to have a slightly higher going price than clean items.

You can try to mod them with the most common request and try to add on the price of the mods, but because you never know what the gamer wants the weapon for, the value for those sold mods don't add up. To be more clear, you might have added a perfect sundering mod on it, but maybe the buyer is going to replace it with a vampiric one. So the real value of any weapon is based more on its skin, its requirement, and less now than before for NF weapons, on its inscription.

True, but most people out there are completely ignorant when it comes to the mods other than sundering.

First,Sundering mods are overrated. A shocking mod is superior to a sundering mod on the nature of its elemental penetration bonus. Yet, Max Sundering is far more expensive than a shock mod.

That shows the logic of the concept of "Perfect" mods. They may be "numerically" perfect, but the question when modding or buying a modded weapon(s) is who wants to use it, and for what purpose.

As stated previously, the skin plays a major role in sales of weapons, and imho, that will be the starting point of any price pont. Mods have their prices, as well as their impacts on weapon pricing, yet the value of a weapon starts with the seller, but ends with what it is worth to the consumer/buyer. For example, a Shocking Wingblade Of Fortitude(15%^50%) Req. 9 +30Hp will sell for far cheaper than a Shocking Platinum Blade Of Fortitude of the same stats for the simple fact that the skin has a lower availability and is more desired at this time.

In contrast, an Elemental Sword of the same stats will sell for better than 10 times the going price of the Platinum blade due to its lower availability. That being said, the mods on the weapon have little impact on the sale price of a weapon/shield/foci, but the skin of the item will make or break most deals.

As for NF weapons, it is totally about the req and the skin. If the desired mods are on the weapon upon purchase, then that's just frosting on the cake, imo.

It used to not matter what mods a weapon has, but apparently this has changed as far as pricing.

If somebody is going to really use (aka customize) the item then they probably won't want the 20/20 +30 crapola. +30HP has always been overrated and I believe there was a post some time ago that showed the +5 defense or +7 vs XXX mods were much better in comparison. The 20/20 mod is decent (light years ahead of the old 10/10) and I haven't seen a comparison post between 20/20 vs vamp mods? The vamp mods were way better than the 10/10 mods but I can't say if the new 20/20 sundering gained some ground vs vamp mods...

For sellers/resellers 20/20 +30 is the only way to go as it gets peoples attention as being "uber" and "perfect". To real players that customize thier weapons though-I won't pay 1 gold more for the 20/20 +30 and you'll be taking the loss on that.

IMHO most people are paying for the skin not the mods. In addition a hard selling item is not going to be easier to sell with 20/20 +30. As a matter of fact it's probably going to be even harder to sell since you're going to want more money for the item once you "invest" in the mods to make it "perfect".

Lastly a "hot" item is going to sell for large amounts of gold regardless of mods, but at that point does it really matter that you spent 50k to mod an item "perfect" that you're going to sell for 100k+50ecto?

Sundering gained some ground, but it is still way far behind vampiric. The only use where sundering can be better than vampiric is some spike builds, usually with axes.
