Ideas for farming Banor Greenbranch?

Hey guys, I did a search for this but couldn't find anything. I've been trying to farm this guy but to no avail. My warrior and monk have access to this part of nightfall but I've only really tried to take him with my warrior. I used heroes/hench to get up to him and clear away his allies (before flagging them off map) but have had some serious troubles with him.

It's pointless trying to knock him down, he can clean conditions and cast shield of regeneration on himself. I was thinking of getting my mesmer up to this part of NF to try but before doing so I wanted to have a plan. I was thinking about some thing based around hex degeneration (with mantra of persistence to help combat his 50% hex duration), with soul barbs and enchantment draining skills to clear him of SoR. Yet I don't think that this will really be enough and I'm not in a position to test this myself.

No doubt he is a horrible boss to try to farm, any ideas?

use a mesmer? tbh, a shatter/drain/backfire mes with MoR should be able to take him down hella fast.

Thanks for your responses, I've been trying him with the 55 SV monk but it's a tad slow due sometimes there being a hexbreaker aria minion with him, so I have to kill that first. But with patience and the correct timing of SoA in relation to lightning surge, it's quite do-able. I might try that 0 hits, mind wrack build from kyle at some point though.

as i see it the only skills that bothers you are shield of regeneration and dismiss condition. shield of regenaration last 11-12 seconds and cost 15 energy. maybe u could try a warrior build using [skill]Fear Me[/skill] in conjunction with [skill]auspicious parry[/skill] and [skill]for great justice[/skill]. You could spam fear me every 3-4 seconds and he would eventually run out of mana. The fight may take a while though.

i use dazed to farm monk bosses, normally a ranger like this one here you may be able to convert this onto a warrior, but it has a steep energy req that I don't feel like tackling right now so-

since you're talking monk or warrior, here is an idea which i take no responsibility for if it doesn't work or expect a ice cream cake in the mail if it does.

W/N
Strg-12
Tactics-8
Weapon-10
Blood-2

Headbutt, Plague Touch, Flail, Strip Enchantment, Healing Signet

you'll need a silencing weapon as a switch out along with the main weapon you choose, they only come in spears, bows, and daggers. I suggest a spear with +5 energy so you can gain some extra energy on the switch with an offhand item as well. A bow is the second best choice since you can use it for more than just this

Those 5 skills are the only ones required the rest should be adrenaline attacks with whatever weapon you choose, or possibly Envenom enchantments if another enchant removal is needed.

Use hench/hero and clear the mobs around him and flag away. Switch to your silencing weapon and cast headbutt followed by plague touch, wiki claims this will give you a 30 second daze by applying the silencing mod twice, but even if it only does it once it should be fine (use runes to up your strength if daze still doesn't last long enough, you want it up the whole time)

Now just charge up your adrenaline and swing away, you should be able to in interrupt him when he casts, with practice you'll get the timing on when to reapply daze to him. If an enchant does get through use drain.

this MAY work, but with dismiss condition there it also might not. Options include taking along a ranger hero with a pet to increase interrupts and do it 2 man, or a mesmer using interrupts or possibly arcane larceny/thievery and hope you get lucky.

or another totally untested build that may deserve being ignored or cake.

W/Me
Inspiration- 12
Weapon- 10
Tactics- 8

Mantra of Inscriptions, Signet of Humility, Healing Signet, Discharge Enchantments, Ether Phantom, 3 weapon skills (1 elite).

Mantra gives you 11 second recharge of signet which lasts 13 seconds and casts in 2 so it should keep his SoR out the whole time if you use it every time it's ready. If he does get an SoR in use Ether Phantom+Discharge enchantment for a quick recharging enchantment removal. Now that his main heal is out just bash him with your weapon, beware of inflicting conditions because he will cast dismiss and probably heal himself with the 'while enchanted' bonus. May be slow but you should be able to out damage the little healing he has left.

Same principle could be applied to a mo/me, using 10 in illusion magic to drain and the 12 inspiration for e-management along side 8 points in divine favor to use Contemplation of purity and watchful healing for a decent self heal.

Of course the 1/4 second cast time of SoR might bust through the 0% margin of error for signet of humilitie's modded recharge. I really don't know, I'm just making stuff up

He will cast Dismiss Condition in 3/8 of a second and one person won't interrupt him even with daze on.

Been looking at this guy's skillbar and he only has a single heal/prot - Shield of Regeneration. Pensive Guardian is useless if you don't use enchantments and Dismiss Condition the AI won't use purely for its conditional heal. So just bring enough attacks to pummel through his Shield and you'll be fine. FGJ - Dragon Slash - Sun & Moon Slash should be sufficient; just don't inflict any conditions.

As it is I still have to wait until his energy is worn down before the hexbreaker guy will die from SV hehe. As for the dazed/plague touch idea, that was one of the first things that I tried on my warrior but even with flail for IAS, dismiss was far too quick. I think that I'm going to keep at SV for now but there are two problems as I see them atm-

1) If he spawns with a mirage Iboga things get tricky with extra degen and I don't want to switch in something like watchful spirit which would be a wasted slot if he spawns without the Iboga. At the moment though he doesn't appear to spawn very often so it isn't much trouble to restart if I see him there.

2) SV works very slowly, I'd like to take something to speed up the demise but find myself a bit tight on skill slots (tbh though I'm running essence bond and balth's spirit, maybe time to try it with less energy again ^^).

Thanks to everyone for your continued input.

Since i quit, PvE and have had enuf of farming for this chapter, i'll release my build

Run a 55 monk with these skills ( Not 100% sure, since i've not touched that character in a long time.)

Spoil Victor
Life Siphon( or healing breeze)
Vamp Gaze
PS
Mending
Watchful
Essence
Bal Spirit

Method:
Cast the 3 enchantments before PS. When u get into battle, pick a target, cast spoil, and then life siphon as many as possible. Life Siphon becomes a kind of healing breeze. You need Life siphon especially if there are those mesmer plants around. You can either do a run ignoring most of the mobs (and thereby triggering the beloved farming code.) or you can kill some of the mobs on the way. I prefer to take the north route - that is, go straight, and dont make the first left turn. Check wiki or some other website for the exact route. This route is easier, and easier to dodge the mobs if u want to.

When approaching banor:
1. Check if you see the paragon plants. Kill them off as he uses the hex removal shout and allows everyone to remove their hexes. Cast SV and life siphon the paragons. This may take long as there may be 2 paragons and a banor casting heal spells on the target. But eventually banor depletes his energy pool and you will break through

2. kill off the illusion mesmer if it spawned as well.

3. kill banor. If you get to the pt where banor has 55 life and is not affected by SV, use vamp gaze + life siphon to kill him.

If you die, the dp will make it MUCH easier to kill banor.

*Hint* This exact build can be used to farm ALOT of bosses.

Tried him yesterday with the usual, GB build. Rake, gash, Sun&Moon, Finalthrust, Endure pain, Healing Signet, and Dolyak.
Anyway, it took abit of a while because of the SoR skill he has. Next time Ill use either an Interrupt or an Enchantment remove instead of Dolyak, as i never used it.
All in all, quite not too difficult, just spam GB even at 200-300 hp u will still gain 100-200 hp if his health is over half way.
Never really came close to dying so easily repeatable. His group however can take a while to kill, because he must keep them alive well. Heres a pick of the green i got from him. Lastly, first time i ever killed him got the green

If using the kill allies -> flag henchies route, can't you just go */Me and bring spirit shackles like all the boss farmers in factions did? (assuming this boss wands people)

lol, 2 words, "Touch Ranger".

If you get low on nrg, swithc to a 15/-1 set and finish him off, or even bring distracting shot just to snag his SoR and swtich back to your set and start touching him away.
