Pre Searing Salvage and something to do besides death level
Sparks Dawnbringer
Ok, so here's my problem. Someone offered to salvage something for me in pre for 85k in pre or 350k in post. What a bunch of crap. I don't understand why the game lets this kind of scam continue. It's stupid. I understand you never intended for that stuff to get to pre, but the bubble burst and all you do is make the people who cheat rich. Well the Charr bags were a very nice answer to the bag problem. But you didn't go far enough. Why you have runes in pre you cannot salvage is a mystery to me. Yes I know you did not intend for any one to stay there forever but some of us like pre. At least give us a small chance to salvage something in pre, a slightly better salvage that can give a 10 or 20% chance of getting the rune. Perhaps the Charr could drop a Green 10 time expert salvage kit. Problem solved we could salvage our runes in pre and sell them for normal prices. We could modify our weapons to what we want and have fun. Because after all that is what it is about having fun not getting rich.
Also I'm tired of people paying 50 gold to go to the northlands. It would be nice if there was a small outpost out there that you had to be level 12 to enter. Level 12 because thats where you start getting your title track for legendary Protector of Askalon. And wouldn't it be nice if you could go out north of there and find something to do that would get you your title without having to death level for hours. Not that death leveling isn't easy and something to do while I'm at work but I would rather play. There dosen't have to be much better weapons than we get in the northlands just enough to get by.

Yeah, it would be nice to be able to get through that gate without asking someone to open it for you. C'mon A-net... open the gate.

Pre-searing is only a tutorial so if you do not wish to endure these "scams" you can jst go post, no one is forcing you 2 stay there. Also if u do not hav the money for these services it doesn't mean they are scams.

Well, outpost would be nice ... maybe that outpost could contain expert salvage kit seller
Yes, expert salvage kit drop from charr bosses will help a bit i guess. It could even be green.
But you still have Superior runes and couple of perfect max weapons (heard about gold crystaline... propably b/s) ... its not like ballacing pre was ever anets priority, otherwise we would have seen some action already.

/signed for the outpost. It is annoying having to pay 50gp EVERY time I want to go into the Northlands.
As for the salvage kit, I don't care. It would be nice, but I wont lose sleep over it.

/signed for the outpost in the northlands, but the level req. isn't needed tbh.
What people mean by that is they salvage in pre, but you have to pay in post.

Its pre-sear. How could you possibly talk about balance in pre-sear? I mean, its just the tute area, is Anet supposed to somehow balance it so that everyone between lvl1 to 20 finds it a challenge? The only way would be to have an area where its like lvl15 to 20 content or something. Why should they do that when they've already designed areas for that after the searing?
You chose to get the title, or you just don't want to leave, fair enough. But I think Anets time would be better spent on things other then making a separate mini campaign in pre-sear...

I frequently have to pay people 50g to get over the wall and I don't really mind. It's a good way for new people to make some quick cash. However, I can also see how an outpost would be nice in the Northern Lands.
However, you're going to have alot of people arguing that Pre is not where the "game" content is and that if you made a Perma-Pre, it's your fault.
I, for one, don't really see how this would "imbalance" the game. Nor do I see how it would be difficult to program in any of these things. DoA, SF... Such things were added after map areas were created. I don't see how this would be different.

They just do a 4:1 ratio. pay 85k in pre for 1 salvage use. If you don't have 85k in pre then you have to pay the 4:1 ratio with post money (350k).
same with Sup vigors selling for 1.5 mill in pre.

Scammers are protected, lawful players should be quiet.. That's GW's stance, they do nothing to deter them.

PLEASE add superior salvage kits. It would make it more fun to be able to salvage the runes that drop. Sup runes dont drop now anyway.
Add more to presearing please! Anything....but at least please throw in a sup salvage kit.

I like the idea of the outpost. Just a small one. Piken square, with just a merchant and a couple of guards to keep the Charr at bay. But for the rest of it, no. I like pre searing too, but I don't want all this extra content added to it just to satisfy those who decide to stay there full time. Especially if it makes getting the title easier.
I like how rare it is to see the title, because I think it's the best title in the game. Get rid of the deathleveling and everyone will have one. The title is difficult to get because it takes a lot of time and patience, which some people just don't have (for instance, you can't play the game for a couple of months while you get this, and I think most people just can't handle that).
As for the expert salvage, I really don't care. Though, if you want more stuff to do in pre searing, farming for the money to get those salvages might be a good idea.

I don't think it's patience, turning on the computer and going to work or bed isn't exactly patience. Patience would be if you had to be there and watch and move your character around once in a while, that would be patience. I don't need it to be easy just not mind mumbing boring. And I know I can go to post, I have about 14 characters there. It is just nice to play in pre sometimes. One small area about the size of the northlands, the doors are there all they have to do is open them and let us through.
And I'm tired of everyone taking advantage of every bug. If were not to have expert salvage kits in pre get rid of them across the board or let us all have them. The only ones who are going to cry are the ones who want 85k to salvage an item. And frankly any one who would pay that is nuts.

I see many people in this thread have no idea what presearing play is about and post crap...
Balance is not a problem and there's no real need to make it totally balanced, but such an easy to do and obvious thing as an expert salvage kit should be added. Even if really hard to obtain, making a legit way to salvage is the way to go!
I wouldn't count on a new outpost there as it requires quita a bit of work to do that, but ofcourse it would be coool to have it.
I'd like to buy a slot just to have a perma-pre character myself, but minor annoyances like this stop me from doing that.

If you already knew that you couldnt salvage items in pre, then why were you talking to someone who was offering to do it for you?
If it was a newbie player who didnt know any better and didnt even know what salvaging was, then I would understand.
But whos going to honestly have 85k in pre-searing anyway?
Maybe add some lessons about scams into the pre-searing area. A tool tip listing all the known scams and how to avoid them.
Other then that, I dont see why we need more locations in pre-searing. Its perfect as it is, otherwise why would people stay there!
Its not really something we want people to do, otherwise people will never move onto post-searing.

I dont think that 85k for a salvage is a scam, runes are like the end-game content of pre. It's not needed, but if you really want to go for the max in pre you CAN buy it, kinda like tormented weapons..
Demand and offer (I think that's how you call it)
I don't know how to solve it, maybe a quest with a salvage kit as reward, on per player.

Probably just turn the area just after the gate an outpost or just the gate itself into an outpost! That'll be a weight off our shoulders. /signed.

Instead of creating a new outpost wouldn't it be simpler to just make the gate stay open after you have gone thru once? They already have that kind of mechanic in factions.
I don't spend much time in pre- but can't see anything wrong with putting an expert salvage kit in there.
A dye trader would be interesting as well.

While getting armbraces is still somewhat fair game, salvages in pre are definately not, it's nothing less then a pure monopoly (unless you intend to buy one of those salvage kits for 100 dollars + ecto)
Heres a Link to a post I made on gwonline which may be a lil more indepth about this and the LDoA title
Cost of 1 salvage in pre is 85k...
This is 85 plat in PRE which is indeed about 300k in post and it'll only keep going up!
Even if those droppable expert salvage kits had only 1 use, it would be groundbreaking yet still be special
About the new outpost, I don't realy like the idea of that outpost for some reason, it doesn't seem realy needed to me, more of a convenience or so. It's somewhat similar to the limited access of FOW and UW with you needing to be ascended. Just my opinion though..an outpost doesn't seem to feel right somehow..I like the way you cant simply walk out a gate and start in the northlands like any other area in pre and it's indeed nice money for starters in pre.
Needing a partner to open the gate isn't realy a limitation to anyone either and also, it is part of the tutorial for teaming up with someone to quest and I think should stay that way, a friend of mine started playing GW a week ago and learned it that way yet I didn't even have to bother him with charr bags, runes or anything. He'll find out about those sooner or later but the teaming up I think the teaming-up aspect of the northlands should stay

I do agree with you, there is no reason why you can not have Expert salvage in pre-searing if there are runes you can salvage out. Those who bring expert salvage kit to pre are just a mistake of Anet update. There is no reason why those people should get rich from selling those stuffs!

Today I found a whole pre black market web site. I won't list it here because it might not be in the rules. But this cannot be what Guild Wars intended for pre. I don't really have any problem with making money but I do have problems with taking advantage of players just because you found a glitch. An it was a glitch this stuff got into pre. Why do you think you cannot take your pre characters to the guild hall any more.
If there was an outpost you you would still have to get another player to let you in the first time. If you could not access the outpost until you were level 12 you would have to get many players to let you in. So lots of people would still get their 50g for opening the gate.
At level 14, I get 32 ex from each boss thats 128 ex from doing most of the Northlands. The Northlands is hard even at level 12-14. What would be the harm of adding a small equally hard area to achieve higher levels. Frankly, I even feel I'm cheating by death leveling because I can't believe GW intended for this to happen. But it's an exploit that you can't get rich from so in my opinion it is harmless.

i agree on having expert salvage kits
we all need them, especially those who r trying to get the legendary defender of ascalon title (like me) because in the amount of time they're there they get a lot of runes and maybe some mods they would like to take off stuff
and an outpost would be nice if it was like hard to get to (maybe in the back of the northlands) and you had to be lvl 12 to enter it (thats the lvl where u get the title track)
new skills and a better way to lvl wud b nice to

The only thing I would support though is a salvage kit.
A 1 use tool, dropped randomly by all bosses, not just charr. Keep it a green and rare drop like the bags(and white/black dye). I'm actually sort of suprised Anet has allowed the pre- salvage kits(sup/exp) to survive.

I say this is nonsense. I don't see why everyone gets mad at people charging 85k pre money. You don't have to pay that and minor runes aren't even that great. Also sparks anet intended for death leveling that is why they enabled it into pre again.

It's not nonsense. The people who have the salvage kits are cheating. I have no problem paying 3-4k for a Charr bag because if I really want one and don't want to pay I can get off my butt and go out and win one. I cannot go out and earn a salvage kit. But cheaters can offer to let me use one for a nasty price. That is there is the difference. The cheaters never want everyone to have the same advantage or what would be the PROFIT in cheating. I cannot see that anyone would have a problem with this except the people who are already getting rich.
Just because we are allowed to death level. Does no mean that it isn't boring, stupid and a waste of time on the net. It would be much better to be able to actually earn a title than die thousands of times. Yes, the first people who thought of this were very creative. But the creative part is OVER. Now it's just blind lemmings following the leader. I just think it would much better to be able to work for it than jump off a wall.

Like the other survivor title obtained easily through FFF, the title is and now is forever meaningless. If it is changed you now have 100s of death levelers from grind and a few people who would get the title through short amount of time and lots of skill to do whatever they implement.

The fact that rune-laden blues drop at all in pre-searing is accident. They're not supposed to be salvagable there and that is the end of that. Nobody NEEDS a Minor Rune of ANYTHING in Pre-Searing.
And the same for the outpost.
I have no problem whatsoever with getting someone to open the gate for me... I realise that Legendary Defender of Ascalon was put into the game BECAUSE someone managed to find a back-route to level 20 in Pre-Searing... and A-Net wanted to reward that ingenuity. To change the process by taking that important step out of it would cheapen the title and take it away from the purpose behind it in the first place.
A-Net don't want to encourage people to stay in Pre-Searing.... BUT they leave something there for those who are deciding to stay anyway.
Pre-Searing doesn't need to be changed (besides stopping the Charr Shamans from kiting completely)....
