I've been trying to make "Assassin Tanks" for a while now, but I think I gave people the wrong idea... I don't want a character that takes on every aggro so the rest of the team can nuke it, I just want an Assassin that can easily survive in nearly any PvE area against nearly any foe. I'd like this thread to be here for any builds/ideas contributing to this goal. Heres a few ideas to start:
A/D Mystic Defenses
[skill]Critical Eye[/skill][skill]Critical Defenses[/skill][skill]Golden Phoenix Strike[/skill][skill]Death Blossom[/skill][skill]Moebius Strike[/skill][skill]Way of Perfection[/skill][skill]Conviction[/skill][skill]Mystic Regeneration[/skill]
*critical eye can be changed to critical strike so not as many skills need to be maintained*
A/Me Defensive Resistance
[skill]Elemental Resistance[/skill][skill]Critical Defenses[/skill][skill]Golden Phoenix Strike[/skill][skill]Death Blossom[/skill][skill]Moebius Strike[/skill][skill]Critical Strike[/skill][skill]Shadow Refuge[/skill][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]
*res can be dropped for a cancel stance such as Dark Escape*
Assassins with Survivability

Arkantos
Ele Res isn't that great. Most mobs in PvE are a mix of ele damage and physical damage.
Samurai-JM
ele res = +30-78 ele armor then crit def = +75 chance to block, besides these are all just ideas. wanted to make kind of a culmination of them so we can figure out something big eventually
Brian the Gladiator
call me unoriginal but I would rather just use flashing blades...
Samurai-JM
works fine against melee, but then less offense and no ele defense
Coloneh
critical defences + critical strike forks fine. throw in way of perfection if you need healing

I agree with no defense against eles part, but why less offense?!? Flashing Blades gives you 75% to block as long as you attack. If you mean that it's not an offensive skill,well...what about ele resistance, then?

I mean youll be using the elite for defense instead of offense, when you can easily replace flashing with critical defense.

The reasons people use FB instead of criticalD is because
1) stance = insta cast ... can save you from a spike
2) can perma keep with no conditional meeting other then attacking which isnt hard for a sin

Flashing Blades gets pwned by Wild Blow and Wild Strike, which most PvPers carry anyways.
An Assassin who isn't farming using their Elite slot for a non-offensive, tanking, or survival skill is not playing a sin correctly or efficiently. There is a reason why skills like Moebius Strike and Shadow Prison are so popular, and its due to those skills being vastly superior in combat use when a sin is played correctly, compared to defensive elites such as Flashing Blades.
In fact, Flashing Blades and Shadow Form are the only two defensive Elites (and possibly Shadow Meld) the Sin has from both Factions and Nightfall, while I count at least six on the Warrior and the number might be higher depending on how you classify defensive. Food for thought...
