PC Gameplay (Benelux) GW: EN and GW2 info
SirJackassIII
On GW: EN, not much news if you've read all the other articles/their summaries.
Mostly that it'll be level 20 content, 18 Dungeons of variable (though high) difficulty made by Asurans/Dwarves/something else that tries to kill you. Based on NF dungeons (I'm hoping not like DoA and rather Jokanur Digging <.< )
50 new PvE skills for the current 10 professions. Classed PvE only due to either being effective on certain species, they would imbalance PvP, or are useless in PvP (ex.: Disarm Traps ).
On GW 2, some things I hadn't seen before, from an interview with James Phinney:
- Armor (value?) is no longer profession specific (difference between Light and Heavy armor, though not yet specified, possibly moving speed with new engine)
- Racial Abilities (again, not really specified, however Human Warrior would still be as powerfull as Norn Warrior)
- An important Crafting chapter (when asked about if Salvaging would be the same as in NF), which includes some changes from the NF Salvaging
- Differences in Battle due to remade 3D engine (jumping and moving while in combat)
- Not all 10 current professions return, some will be remade/merged together
- Skills are currently being worked on in a way that no 2 skills do the same thing
That's just about the most important things. Oh yeah, and we didn't get an Asura Mini (yet)

ooooo
armor not being profession specific will make things interesting
I had a felling not all professions would return.
When they say 50 PvE skills, I wonder if they mean 50 per profession or 5 per profession..

I'm guessing that paragon and Ritualist is the 2 that will be merged together somehow
Knightsaber Sith
If GW2 is an important "crafting chapter", I wonder if there will be artificers as suggested in one of the other threads.

Say farewell to the mesmer...
I'm guessing their skills and attributes will be split amongst several classes, as well as the ritualist.

Mesmer is a best class in GW, new idea that works, so im guesing they leave it in ;D

I hope this doesn't mean the end of assassins, even tho they're a profession like no other....
Domino
If they get rid of assassins, I will be a sad panda.
my only hope is that A-net is smart and includes one of the most challenging classes to play in the sequel.
my second hope is that for the love of god, don't make Assassins all ninja-ed out with spikes and limited faces. Let us make a traditional cloak and dagger assassins!

My bet? Merge Necro&Ritualist, and Assassin&Mesmer, and Ranger&Paragon. Lose Dervis.

Think of the unbalance though.... If the assassin and mesmer are merged, and you're a Ranger (that's been merged with the paragon) you've suddenly got the abilities of 4 professions.
I don't think that would work.

ah, I see....

Losing the Mesmer would be upsetting; at the risk of sounding shallow, I must admit that if the Mesmer was not in GW2, I would have to be heavily persuaded to take the plunge anyway. Can't say I'd flat out /rage (I'm not *that* lame), but the temptation would be there.....
clawofcrimson
mesmers are pretty cool class-wise... I hope they keep-em...
I think 'sins will stay because of their popularity... I'm thinking
ritualists, paragons and dervs have the oust boot comin.

Well i certanly really really hope Ill see a mesmer class in GW2,or similar illusionist class...
If they remove em I guess Ill be satisfied with assassin/rogue like class...
...but anet dont please

I think the Paragon is definitely going to get the axe. The class is pretty much an undeniable failure in both concept and application. I can count the number of Paragons I have seen/grouped with on my hand.
Most likely the Ritualist and Necromancer will be merged in some way, since they are both so intertwined with the Underworld.
The Dervish is most likely getting canned, simply because it's a very Elona specific class.
I highly doubt the Assassin would be removed, but then again A-net has made bad decisions in the past.

My suggestions for Merging:
Necromancer/Ritualist (although that might be too much summoning in one class. Elemental/Ritualist might be a better merge for gameplay)
Ranger/Assassin - to me, the Assassin always seemed more like a Ranger, except close range, instead of a Mesmer.
Warrior/Paragon - Both have 80 armor and use shield. This would just give warriors a long range option, not a bad idea at all. Oh, yeah, and Shouts would combine, too.
Monk/Dervish - OK, this is mostly a RPG mix. But with the heavy Enchantment builds of both, this seems like a great mix.
But who knows? Maybe they'll just divide the different skills between the classes, so there is no true hybrid.
Maybe some skills will be given to races instead of Professions.

The more I hear about GW2, the more I try to like it but find it harder and harder to.
Mordakai
Where did that come from Dj Tano? Are you just spamming, or is there something specifically about Guild Wars 2 that bothers you?
Theus
Why do I get the feeling that Guild Wars 2 will be reduced to Generic
Warrior
Ranger
Mage
Healer
classes?
The removal of Mesmers would be quite possibly one of the most retarded things they could do.
But consdering the other information we've gotten on the game,I wouldn't put it past them.

Warrior - absorbs Paragon, absorbs some of assassin
Mesmer - absorbs some assassin
Necro - Absorbs some of ritualist
Ranger - absorbs some of ritualist
Elementalist - Absorbs some of dervish
Monk- absorbs some of dervish
end speculation

My suggestion about merging:
Warrior + Assassin + Dervish: Does the game really need 3 melee classes?? 'Nuf said. Merge 'em. Or simply dump Dervish and Assassin. I wouldn't mind.
Necromancer + Ritualist: Fit together very well, theme wise. There are already many skill synergies now. Dump the Rt weapon spells, they are mostly redundant with monk skills. Instead, focus on spirit skills.
Paragon: Split this profession into two parts. Merge the chants and shouts with monk, and the spear skills with ranger:
Monk + Paragon: Both are mostly ranged support classes. Get rid of monk smiting; it has never been used for anything but solo farming. Instead, give the monk an attribute with support chants and shouts.
Ranger + Paragon: Again, both are ranged support classes. The spear fits well with the bow.
Elementalist should stay separate.
Mesmer should stay seperate, except with more AoE effect skills, so that it's more useful in PvE.

Also..the fact that they're going to a Light/Medium/Heavy armor system is so incredibly lame.
I enjoyed the fact that other classes has far different visual's than that of other classes.
*Sigh* It just seems that with every bit of info for GuildWars 2 my interest dwindles.

they will merge Warrior and Dervish, and PALADIN will be born in gw..i can smell what A-NET are farting.
Ritualist will be split between, monk, necromancer and ranger..Paragon will also be split between warrior (shouts, leadership, command, motivation sound like they should come from a warrior anyway) and maybe rangers will be granted the ability to be proficiant with all ranged weapons, ie spears aswell as bows..
speculation ofcourse.

I thought it would be nice to add variety to existing Professions (adding Spears to Warriors as an option, for example), you merged like to like.
Some comments: I get the feeling that GW2 will be even more solo friendly than GW. Monk smiting will (hopefully) not go away.
If anything, I'd like to see an even more potent offensive Monk class by adding Dervish skills. Reason? I want to see variety. I don't want only one melee class, one ranged class, one summoning class, etc.
Along those same lines, add Summon Elementals or similar spell to Elementalists.
I agree Mesmer needs more umph for PvE, and I love playing an Illusionary Weapon build in PvE.

necro with scythe...like grim reaper with curses and such= dervish+necro
assasin will likely remain...probably with more utility as theives/raiders =
warrior with many weapon choices spear, sword, axe, hammer (hopefully two handed swords mmm= war+para
monk with some 'spiritual' ties = monk+ritualist
ranger will remain as well me thinks
necro with summoning powers minions and spirits and such= necro+ritualist
Mesmer will probably remain the same
and finally we will probably see a paladin/protector type class as well: merging warrior para and monk
thats my guess/hopes

Lord Sojar
Dervish maybe fused with warriors? Make is a specific following when creating a warrior? Paladin type warrior that wields a scythe. I <3 my dervish.
Bryant Again
The armor not being professions specific sounds pretty cool. Now I won't be jealous as a warrior seeing a cool set of ranger armor.
I hope we don't have armor drops, though...

clawofcrimson
the armour not being class specific was refering to armour level...not appearence... there still needs to be some in-game way to distinguish classes
Bryant Again
Well it said Armor (value?), so it's undefined. Is there a source to the article for this?
MagicWarrior
I kind of like the original 6 classes... not so keen on the others... although they could easily merge some of them - like Dervish being a "type" of Warrior, Assasin being a "type" of Ranger, Ritualist being a "type" of Monk, etc.
MirageMaster
Smells like Diablo 3 concept.
I really hope they leave mesmer in GW2.So far i hardly see any reason to buy GW2 and with out mesmer i'll bet will loose intrest for real.

MSecorsky
I think the mesmer is perhaps the most creative class I've seen from any game to date. I can't see ANet destroying something so amazingly well done.
Alex... can you shed a little light on this? Gaile?
Alex... can you shed a little light on this? Gaile?
jsshah1
would like to see them keep the elementalist class.. maybe mix in some of the paragon stuff with them.. they are usually at the back of the team caus of the squisheyness so they can shout to motivate etc.. sort of like the wize wizard characters u see in the movies.
Dj Tano
I really hope it will be like this:
Warrior
Ranger+Assassin
Monk
Necromancer
Mesmer+Dervish (but only mysticism added)
Elementalist
Ritualist
Paragon
I also really hope that there will be no more class specific weapons anymore, but that class specific armor remains.

What, is gw2 going to be a wow clone?
