Speculation on Humans and GW2

It seems that everytime I read one of the interviews or the article summaries about GW2 I'm left wondering if human will be a playable race at all in the new game. Perhaps I am being obtuse, but the storyline describes a world where humans are on the brink of extinction -- having outposts filled with human players wouldn't seem to fit that story. The playable races list doesn't include human at all, and there is nothing related to them in the concept art that has been released so far.

Are Norns the closest thing we have to humans? If that is the case I sincerely hope that race doesn't affect profession. I would hate to be limited to a melee or certain caster class because of wanting a character that appears as human. The Devs would have to put out a helluva game to convince me to take another race -- not saying that it absolutely can't be done, but it would be difficult. Even moreso considering the family lines and inheritance that Gaile has described through the Hall of Monuments. You just can't go around saying my Tyrian born monk mated with Char and expect to keep your teeth.

There's a summary somewhere of the Benelux magazine- and it states that Norn warriors will be as strong as Human warriors.

So yes, there will be humans.

Dang, I thought this would be a thread speculating whether Humans would get access to special skills like the other races.

That would be a good thread.

Group lf 1 warrior, (must be norn or sylvari only)

Group lf 1 ele, must be sylvari

i can just smell the exclusion approaching, PvE'ers think HA is bad when your not ranked trying to get a group, it's heading exactly the same way for gw2 PVE.

It's a strange sort of paradox thats occurd, simultainiously the best and worst idea A-net has had,

Give us new playable races (for looks only) YAY!

oh wait, each race has inherent abilities that will detract from the actual build of the proffession and help to create and propetuate(SP?) the already "wiki says this build" nature that has become of the majority of GW players, leading to the elitist xclusion that already skulks around the mid-lata missions of all the campaigns. BOO!

Dis-agree if you like, time will show that im correct.

We don't even know the game mechanics of GW2 yet. Why do people have to keep bringing it down?

Anyway, if the other races have they're specific attributes or something, so would humans. I just hope it's not a jack of all trades thing.

Exactly, we dont even know what the game is gonna be like. We need to be open to the fact that its gonna be new and different. One thing too is that they did a great job with the first GW. Belive me im sure that this next game is gonna be just as good. But yeah a jack of all trades wouldnt work so well.

Meh, they could always do a WoW approach and give racial abilities and even racial spells. It seems to work quite well, further differentiates between races (and classes of the same type), and doesn't have the segregation Juk3n was talking about.

The problem is we don't know, yet people keep talking as if they do know. Nothing wrong with speculating, but don't assume any of it is true until Anet (or PC Gamer maybe) says something on it.

(I'm not saying PC Gamer is as credible as Anet, but they're pretty close)
