Invalid Guild Roster name query to the devs

Hello chaps,

this must be a rather unusual question, I certainly have never seen it before, and I've no idea if this is an easy one to deal with, or one that is going to be chronic.

During beta I played mainly on a character called Jim DiGriz. When we went live I made a number of characters, one of which retained that name. I had been invited to my guild and so on my guild roster it automatically shows me up as Jim DiGriz.

I can't recall which character class Jim was now, but whatever he was, he was my least played, so when we came to make a guild video in mid-2005, I deleted him to make a variety of characters for filming. When I came to remake him a couple of days later the name had gone.

Well, as annoying as that was, these things happen. I tried to contact the player a few times, but only saw him online once, and have not seen him online at all in over a year. (I was going to see if I could attempt to buy the name back, but hey hum).

Anyway, to this day, my name on the guild roster is Jim DiGriz. I haven't been Jim DiGriz in nearly two years. That character is played by someone else completely now.

Would it not be possible to remove references to a player's character name if that character name is no longer valid? It's annoying enough to have lost the name, but to be officially referenced by it does my head in.



Anyway, it's a funny situation, and I am wondering if my Roster name could be converted to a character name I actually possess.

Yes, same for names on your friend list.

I was invited to my guild under lyra katlin, and thats what it refers to me as, even though ive long since deleted that character.

I really dont know what could be done. Personally...id like a way to name your own buddies or guild roster.

Why not just leave your guild and get invited back on a character which you don't plan on deleting?

Easy solution

Just leave the guild and ask an officer or leader to re-invite you under your new name.

If you’re an officer the leader will have to re-officer you.

If you’re a leader then your going to have to trust the player you make as a leader to make you leader again.

The leave the guild idea - well, I'm quite proud of how long I've been in. I was invited whilst still in Beta, and am the longest serving member. I'm sure to some it sounds insignificant, but I really am proud of being visually the first member.

Good advice though and I appreciate it.

Leave your guild and then re-join with a different character. That will take care of things for you. I had the same situation, and it worked for me.
