I use to respect alot of guilds, for alot of reasons...
1 of those reasons being Guild Ladder Rank and such... you see people running around from certain tags, and have capes with special borders..
Untill the latest.....
Not saying any names, but ive noticed 2 guilds both in Kamaden spamming the following...
SELLING GUILD INVITE TO SILVER (or such color) BORDERED CAPE GUILD... 10K EACH....
So, they send invite, then they kick person 10 mins later.... i mean, ya, they earned the cape, or their guildies did... but does anyone else feel that that is giving other high ranked guilds a bad name, the ladder deserves respect, and all guilds should respect themselves and such as well as other guilds...
This posting is probably in the wrong area... but i honestly feel that it is geared more toward the PVPer then anyone in any other area, and i wanted as many pvpers to see it, because i would love to see their inputs.... because they all get the bad wrap for a few ppl, and i would guess that they read threads here more then anywhere else....
And... new member to guild... never played pvp day in is life, gets into argument... what do u think first thing he will pull.... "look at my guild cape"... then, he gets put in his place, either verbal or fighting... that reflect bad on his guild, other guilds, and the entire guild ladder...
How can you put a price on your honor? Not just the honor you have "earned" by winning such a reward, but the honor of those you have beaten?
Please also read my posting #113 on this page before posting anything....

Don't flare this up or troll on it either!
*nice fast replies, didnt want to repost, just edited... and it is hurting some ppl... Joe Smoe, had 9.4k, sells a few things real fast to get his 10k.... his first 10k ever... (note i said kamaden is where they r selling invites, that is noob island headquarters) even saw 1 guild selling invite for 1k... then guy joins guild 10 mins later needs another guild*

Lost Respect for a High Rank Guild or Two...

The funny thing is people know they are being scammed and don't care. When my guild had a pseudo breakup, a guildmate sold invites. I was pissed and told them all they were being scammed.
But none of them minded. They blabbered on about how it was an honor to have a silver cape for a little while and 25k wasn't much money and so on. They knew, and didn't care. What may seem like a scam to you seems like a perfectly reasonable purchase for others.
Whatever tickles your pickle I suppose.

I seen a guy in Int districts in HA doing the same. I called him a scammer coz thats all it is. Whoever thought this was a great idea is an asshole and has no scruples or respect for anyone but themselves.
The guild in question have members post here btw. Guys, you should know better you idiots.

Both parties know what's coming, both parties are ok with the deal.
Both parties DON'T know whats coming though. A friend of mine had nearly bought the invite thinking he was getting in the aformentioned guild to stay, not just for 10 mins. There are probably a lot of young pvpers out there thinking they have finally struck it lucky only to feel humiliated when they get kicked.
The scammer doesn't make it clear that what he is selling is basically a photo oppurtunity. Maybe if they made this clear, it wouldn't stink so much, but they don't.

Yeah, you're all wrong. The guilds in question aren't kicking people. They're just inviting them until they're full, because they're gonna remake the guild, so might as well let some players have fun by being in a top guild, and make a few plat out of it. I was talking to a guy from one of the guilds, he said that ~80 people had joined the guild, but 20 had left on their own accord, so there was still 60 there.
If you are new, and pay to join the guild, then you shouldn't be playing imo. It' just retarded thinking that you have to pay 10k to actually join a guild that is being serious.

I think the loss of respect the OP is talking about has to do with the fact that the top-ranked guilds who sell temp memberships are actually selling out their own hard work (or their fellow guildies' work) for a bit of cash. Not necessarily about the potential "scam" factor.
Wow, now everyone can have a screenie of themselves wearing a champion's cape... how... very special... a'la "Yeah, that's me when I was in that rank 2 guild... but meh, I left to pursue other opportunities..."

As one of the people currently selling invites i see no harm in doing so. We simply want to make some cash in the time we have our trim remaining, the only time we've kicked those invited is if they've bugged members of the alliance or simply refuse to listen to things. Many of the pve's that we have invited care little about 10k and almost all people will pay in advance. Im curious about what actually we are scamming seems as we are selling the invite then they get the invite.. its not as if we're saying ooo u can be on our gvg team only 10k or something. Anyways its free money we might as well.
All members paid 10-50k and there was probably another 20-30

^^^ my point exactly!
so, u got joe nub, paid 10k to get into ur guild, talks alot of smack, gets tuned up bad.... (done it got the video on youtube), then ur guild, as well as all other siver / bronze / whatever lined capes get bad raps....
and you, as a guild and pvper who worked hard to earn their cap, get bad raps.....
finaly, someone sees my point...
