I am sure all people who are runners and all people who take runs have seen people who don't pay. It is really annoying when you run someone all the way to the destination and they leave without paying. What I am suggesting is that there should be a function that automatically takes payment.
First of all, the runner chooses a destination(eg. Droks), and all the party members show their money or stuff or whatever they're paying. They all agree that they're paying whatever it is to go wherever they want, the deal is made, and the payment is "held". They can't trade it to someone else or drop it or get rid of it in any way. If the runner gets to that particular destination, then the payment is automatically removed and given to the runner.
If the runner leaves or dies, then he should pay a fine for wasting everybody's time, and the party member's stuff gets "released". If the party member leaves, then the payment is paid on the spot. There should also be a time limit on the run(maybe 30 mins) to finish so the runner won't be AFK and force people to get bored and leave.
I think this will help solve alot of problems with people who get a run and leave without paying anything.
Automatic pay for runs

If ANET is going to officially support running, why not just unlock the towns after the player pays the runner NPC ?
This option is probably much easier for ANET to program and has the advantage of acting as a gold sink as well.
/unsigned - If you want to run people be prepared to have people skimping out on paying. Its not like you lost anything except some of your time, and if you really want the gold you can go farming.

So you want the developers to institute a method for you to SKIP their content that they worked on?
Dave: So Bill, I put in a NPC Runner system / Automatic Payout for runs.
Bill: But... but, that means that people are skipping all that content that we worked on!
Dave: Wrong! I did Factions. They're skipping all that content that YOU worked on.
Bill goes to find a knife.
Yeah, that's a bit dramatized, but it's 3 A.M.!
Anyways, seriously, I don't see them implementing this. It's counter-productive to them doing the work in the first place.
Besides, playing the game out (Yes... even Mangunna Jungle *sigh*) helps you learn the character, adjust to playing at a disadvantage, and provides other people who actually PLAY the game, more people for parties.

However they haven't done anything to support or even approve of running yet so I'm going to go out on a limb and /notsign this. |
Death yes they have done stuff to stop running. They made gates locked in Factions and NF. One reason I think though why didn't take the away the ability to run in proph is because it is the fastest way to get max armor. Take Factions for example, you can get max armor very early into the game and the same goes for NF. So I am going to have to say /notsigned
