W/E dumbproof IDS farming
Abnaxus
I was an old school IDS farmer with W/Me elemental resistance build, I stopped very soon after getting a couple of them, also because prices went very low in that period.
But recently I made a new warrior and I wanted one for him, and found that the W/Me build was no longer doable, essentially because of the nerf in shield and armors.
I checked here:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10132168
and tried the Shield of Regeneration build.
This build is valid when the number of imps is around 5-6, but when you're in groups of 10-12 and constantly hit by 3-4 maelstroms, the chance you're interrupted is too high to make this build reliable.
You need to move outside of the maelstrom, but with dolyak and mind freeze on you're too slow.
And above all, I'm a very dumb player, I need a build which cannot fail even when played by a n00b like me!
*************************************
So, I decided to create my own build, and having experience with ele farming, I thought that Stoneflesh Aura could be a viable skill for damage reduction: add Glyph of Concentration and at 12 earth you have permanent and uninterruptible 25 damage reduction from all sources.
Now you have spent 15e with 2 skills, which is quite a lot for a warrior, so you need an energy management, and you can't use the typical monk or mesmer skills.
But warriors have a very good energy management too, and it's Warrior Endurance, which gives you 3 energy on hit, more then enough for your needs.
Finally, you need something to fuel you adrealine skills, and the best I found is Flail, which also increases you damage and doesn't need energy.
So, the final build is this:
Warrior Endurance [E]
Glyph of Concentration
Stoneflesh Aura
Watch Yourself!
Lion's Comfort
Flail
Sever Artery
Galrath Slash
12 Earth Magic
9 Swordmanship
10 Strenght
9 Tactics
Armor: I use dreadnought, which gives 90AL against elemental
Shield: I have a r9 tactics SotW with +30hp and 10 armor against cold damage, which is quite helpful in my opinion
Sword: I have used a r9 scimitar 15>50 and +5 armor.
I guess that a fire damage mod could help against imps, and also that a +20 enchant grip can be better than the +5 armor, since you take practically 0 damage all the time.
So, take your heroes and henchies (I use Zhed, Olias, Dunkoro, Stefan, Thom, Alesia and Lina), fight your way until the cave and flag them outside of the radar.
When approaching the 1st group of imps, cast Stoneflesh. By the time you reach the closest imp, you should have again your full energy, so cast GoC+SA and whack the imps while using Warrior Endurance.
In few seconds, you will be again with full energy (at 10 strenght, WE will recharge you to 19e) so you can use your adrenaline skills, and Flail to hav them recharged quickly.
Heal with Lion Comfort when needed, try to keep WY up especially when you're recasting Stoneflesh, because there will be probably less then 1 sec in which you don't have it on (that's why I think that a +20% enchant mod on sword can be better than a +5 armor).
Be careful not to activate Flail just after WE, because Flail will cancel WE. Wait to use it until WE has charged all your mana.
I did 4 trips with this build, 3 without drop, in the 4th I got 2 IDS, so I'm a very happy man LOL!
I'm not planning to make further trips, I already won the great challenge which was to make a totally unskilled player like me to successfully fight against the imps, now enjoy my build, good luck and have fun!

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10082944 LOL true, I checked only the first 3-4 pages of the forum and didn't find it, it's 90% the same except that I don't use dolyak because I always disable it with llion's comfort (that's why I replaced it with WY).

Mesmer in Need
is it possible that the glyph will get interrupted? or does the glyph not count as a spell?
onerabbit

The Glyph can only be interrupted by Mountain Trolls with Disrupting Chop, anyway it's easy to avoid, just check when they land an attack and cast the Glyph immediately after.

I believe if you've used Dolyak Signet, you can use Lion's Comfort before Dolyak has recharged at about 1/4 (25%) (or 1/2 (50%) I forget). I read that information somewhere and I recall having tried it. It did not increase the recharge time of Dolyak.

if you flag them far enough away so that their names are 'greyed out', you will get all the item drops, but i THINK gold is still shared through out the hench, for some reason
