Petition to keep the new expansion per 6 months philosophy
Dj Tano
1) Like a petition is really going to make them change their market strategy
2) A game every 6 months was a stupid idea from the beginning imo
3) If they really have to release a new game every so often, then make it a game every 12 months...

Some expansions would be nice. They dont really need to do the whole "world is being threatend by a great evil" thing. They could just do a kurzick/luxon type of thing where you are at war with someone. But you would be on one side not choose like kurz/lux. Or something else.....If they make them more like expansions instead of single campaigns they could do it.

this thread is still going???
ANet never stated at the beginning that they intended to release every six months, Gaile and Alex Weekes have both stated that in the past
And yes, as stated, i think this is a good finish for this story arch and then move to GW2 for the next one, as it means we still get fresh story line components, but ANet can also introduce new game mechanics and rework what didn't work in the original game engine

I would still like to see GW exppansions, even if they are not every 6 monthes. It would not be that hard to add some new maps and things to do. We dont need anymore proffs. New skills might be nice and off course new gear (armor and weapons) but this is all small things that would not be hard to maintain. I do not think anet will simply let GW die. To many other games are still played, diablo 2, warcraft (not wow), starcraft (and thats just from blizzard) We may not see any changes but I dont think we will lose GW anytime soon.

Every 6 months is not a good idea for an expansion, let alone a campaign anymore. What they should have done is made the campaigns more spread out and more worked on. Then they could have "expansions" to each of them and eventually have a conclusion expansion like EotN.

Yeah... we want more Furnaces.

I don't think they should release expansions. They could possibly released regular updates to keep the appeal of the game

New content be it standalone or "new material" would keep me in GW1 but holding them to a fix content cycle may be a bad thing.
GW2 by the way of it's design looks to fix the issues that will slowly bring GW1 down. Dispersion of the player base across games, the juggling of of PvE vs PvP crowd plus other thing they added late that would be much better added at the beginning.
I highly suspect GW2 will have a single "core" and offer paid expansions that add on (but not replace the "core").
Anet is not as large as people think. I do like the update approach Lydz mentioned. As long as there something of substance 1 per year. We still don't know the effect of GW2 (and taking away GW1 players) on GW1. No content is great... but if you have to hero/hench it.... 3 months after it's "old".
