Death by Lag
Winterclaw
Hey is anyone else noticing that GW's lag is getting worse, specifally tonight? I'm getting some pretty high ping times tonight and was wondering if anyone else is see a lag spike recently.
AW Lore
ocasional lag spike every once in a week, i guess im lucky i dont suffer from massive lag spikes.

Yes, definitely. A friend and I have been questing in the evening hours (US Pacific time) and we've been getting pretty horrible ping times off and on all week. Tonight was especially bad, I did a whole mission with an average ping time above 500ms with spikes up to 2,000ms or so. I'm surprised I didn't get dropped on some of them.
Every night is the same, it will be OK, then get really bad for a while, then get OK again later in the evening. It sure makes me suspect that the problem is load on the GW servers since it happens to both of us at the same time, but obviously it could be latency on the Internet at some common router.

Couple nights ago, three of us in a GvG match errored out three times at the same time within the one match. We still were able to win that one though.
Chop it Off

They promised you free servers, dont remember they said anywhere about it being lag free. Have fun.

It seems worse in ABs for me. A constant ping of 500-1000, not so much spiking, just always really bad.

Mine got pretty bad on Great Northern Wall with my survivor character. Was running from the Charr, hit the first bridge, activated dodge, got clear to the other side and found myself back in the middle of the Charr and devourers. Luckily, Alesia, Stefan, Orion, and my pet all died to save my life and I managed to win the mission without dying

You know, some of this lag may be caused to computer problems. Defrag your HDD and stuff. I know cause playing on my laptop introduced some huge lag problems because of my lack of RAM... 512mb doesn't cut it. So I get lag spikes when the RAM fills up and the notebook has to access the page file.

Gotta say, I haven't had any lag for a week or 2 (European server).
Code=007
no lag here, (unless I start downloading something)

I've had some spikes at times. Usually its when I go into the larger towns and such, which is to be expected. Tho last night I was cruising with a ping of 78. No idea how I managed it but I was in heaven. ^^

Almost no lagg, i get some lagg spikes evrey once in a while but my ping is stable at 100ms, sometimes goes at 500ms but rarely and i can count on 1 hand the times i got 1000+ms pings.

Thall, if my memories of GW are of it being unplayable because of lag, that'll really affect my decision when it comes time to buy GW2. I'm already leaning towards the no until I hear at least a few better things.
Onarik, did that a few weeks ago, didn't really help the little to moderate lag I was getting back then. This worse lag I've been getting seems to have started recently.

Seriously guys... if you are going to make a thread about lag, please include the stat (or country) where you live and your connection speed. Simply posting that you have lag is meaningless.
If you want anyone in Arena.net to take you seriously, you need to provide real data. Did you attmpt a tracrt or nslookup on arena.net? Did you read the support page?

also, if you want anyone at ANET to take this seriously, then log a support ticket.
You have to remember we are a fansite and anet have no power here just like we cant fix lag........ or any game issues
Be sensible guys or this thread will be closed.

I would but Anet's tech support isn't always that great. Chances are if I do send something in all I'm going to get is an automated respones because there's nut much a tech can do to stop the lag.
Grandmaster Safety
I've also noticed the lag increase over the months. AB is the worst, often it's unplayable. Sometimes at the beginning we won't be able to do anything, it's as though the portals don't work and you can't move anywhere.

Actually I posted this in riverside first and I asked it to make sure it wasn't a problem on my end only and that other people have experienced a similar recent lag spike problems. Besides, there's no need for me to go through tech support and get told to defrag the HD I told them was defragged in the first place, only to find out the problem isn't on my end.
Or as snype pointed out, the only thing I get back is someone blaming me.
