I have done this without problem just run in kill them all.

For some reason I was able to finish this quest (and I have to say with ease) with my Warrior (2 SF eles+morgan) and rest of henches.
I tried to do this with another character a couple of weeks after I finished it with the Warrior and I could not even do it at all, it was so hard that I just gave up.

As the wiki page eludes to but I found difficult to understand at first, the easiest way is to first talk to all the Scholars, then inch forward out of the palace. While you hold down CTRL, stop moving as soon as you see enemy names (they will be just off your compass). Only a small group will advance towards your position (which should still be well within the palace). Pull back a bit once you're sure they are moving towards you, kill them, then inch forward again to 'aggro' the next group.

I did this quest the other day with a dual MM/discord setup, and it was tough even with 19 minions.
Dual discord would work better I think.

I've tried that - the problem is while they ooze forward in little bits on your own side, they aggregate on the other side - so while you've cut your huge problem in half it's still huge, and ready to trot straight for your scholars.

This quest is worse then Battle of turai's prosession. At least in that one, you can devide them if you are quick enough.

I wasn't sure if it mattered, but after 3 groups on one side, I moved to the other side of the Halls to draw out individual groups there.
