Protective Spirit or Spirit Bond?

Which one is more suitable on a ZB/GoH hybrid?
How about an RC Pure Prot?
Thanks.

Spirit Bond.
Unless your counterpart monk has Protective Spirit

it really depends, in Pve many monsters do horrible damage if they are high lvl, making spiritbond perform badly. PS (eventually combined with spiritbond by the other monk, I recall that worked together quite well) could be better in many cases. For PvP I would agree with Mr LightningHell

Is there another Monk? What is he running? What gametype are you playing and where?
There are a lot of variables. General rule is that in PvE, Protective Spirit is better, in PvP, Spirit Bond.

Very true. I wish people knew how prot spirit actually worked, rather than assuming its the anti spike spell. Many people argue that prot spirit is better than spirit bond because of the duration.
But then I just set them up to go to mineral springs in PvE and see how prot spirit does there. Or in pvp arena, an A\W SP spike. Oh do they learn quick!

as a ZB/GoH hybrid, i'll be alone.
as an RC Prot, I'll be with a pure healer.
so???

i my self normaly go with PS over SB, reason being, u cant always detest 60dam on a friend so i normaly wast that 10e :P. but PS can work better on a friend covered in sups. tho with the icy vaisn spike picking up in HA i take spirt bond. if ur running both of them in PVE id go PS both times, cos as patrick noted there r times wehn SB can preform badly, IE agaisnt a 200-500 damage spell, where as PS works well agaisn all but life stealing

Protective Spirit for me all the way if you can't farm with Spirit Bond then it won't be going on my bar.It use to be a good for farming but not anymore.

I agree with Ensign, in general PS in PvE, SB in PvP.
But indeed variables.
Example:
You have 600hp. Enemies attack with 80 damage each.
With PS, you will be dead in 10 attacks without additional healing.
With SB at 14 prot, you will take 80 damage the first time. It will heal for 96, but this is applied before the damage according to wiki.
The next time, you will be healed for 96 and take 80 damage.
so after 10 attacks of 80 damage, you are still at 520 health if I understand the way SB works.
So you have to consider how much damage your enemies do.
If you are playing high level PvE, you might consider PS, since some enemies do enormous damage in single attacks.
In PvP and for example Mineral Springs (mentioned by DreamRunner), there are spikes which are made up of several attacks that follow each other fast.
In that case, SB would be the best choice.
Quick math, please correct me if i'm wrong:
The breakpoint for a 600hp character is around 146hp hits at 14 prot.
With PS, damage for each attack is reduced to 60.
That's 600-540-480-420-360-300-240-180-120-60-0
With SB, the first hit will be full (heal before taking damage).
The second to 10th will heal for 96 and damage 146, netting 50 damage.
So health will go 600-450-400-350-300-250-200-150-100-50-0.
So (considering a 600hp character) if your enemies attacks are over 144hp/attack in general, take PS.
If it's lower but still over 60 (which is more quite common in PvP and many PvE area's) you should at least consider SB.
The more complicated part is when you face enemies that do some damage over 60, but a lot below.
Do you take the additional heal from SB (recast every 8 seconds), or the additional protection time from PS (recast every 22 seconds)?

You might want to rethink this as if you are in mineral Springs after the 10th attack it will be stripped either by Physical or Magic. It is what I said in my original post as SB gets stripped after 10 hits.

I know SB will be stripped after 10 hits.
To make it even worse, afaik it can best be applied to a target already taking damage, since the heal is prior to damage.
But, SB can be cast after 2 seconds, providing you have the energy.
I have to try a full SB run in Mineral Springs, but I think could be the better option.

PS is superior to SB when you'll be facing mobs who deal huge amounts of damage while SB is superior when you'll be facing mobs who deal mediocre damage(over 60) and do it quickly
in PvP usually SB is better however against some teams PS will prove to be on the upper hand

~Polynikes nope he got it right, hen ur facing a boss, how hits for 400hp with invoke lighting SB will b usless and PS wil lrock, limiting it down to about 60 dam. but when facing a lage mob SB is better
