Hey everyone and thank you for taking your time to read this.
I'm finding it quite difficult to make an effective channeling build that uses no spirits. I have access to all elites so that doesn't matter.
Recently I've been trying a Caretaker's Charge build but it's not too good really. I just grab a few skills and plonk them on my bar.
So any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you! =}

What is your secondary? You kind of limit the skills you can use by not using spirits. At least offensively
One thought would be to base a build on Wielders Strike with the Mesmer skill Echo

I used a channeler in RA to great effect, and even got some glad points off of it.
16 channeling
15 restoration
3 spawning
caretaker's {E}
channeled strike
essence strike
spirit burn
bloodsong
generous was tsungrai
weapon of warding
flesh of my flesh
Those four spells allow you channel spam continuously, while caretaker's and essence gives you more than enough energy management. Bloodsong is your spirit, generous and weapon of warding is your defense/self heal.
How to play:
generous -> bloodsong -> spam. Heal and kite as necessary.
With 15 restoration, you may be tempted to take spammable heals with this build, especially given the amount of energy you'll usually have; don't. Focusing on healing yourself and your party members will make just a second rate healer, and you will be mitigating entirely the point of taking four spammable channeling spells.
Also, I chose double superiors because you generally have more health than most other characters anyway, and it makes your self-heal a bit more effective. But it's probably better to take a minor or a major.

another option if you can count on monks is
[skill]Cruel Was Daoshen[/skill][skill]Ancestors' Rage[/skill][skill]Spirit Rift[/skill][skill]Channeled Strike[/skill][skill]Spirit Channeling[/skill][skill]Nightmare Weapon[/skill][skill]Warmonger's Weapon[/skill](great on your tank) and a res of choice.

^ I like Offering of Spirit a lot more than Spirit Channeling, mainly because it falls under the channeling line. Just a suggestion.

I have been playing around with this build since yesterday and like it however the non heal part of it basically means you cannot solo you must have a decent healer. I am just playing with it now so I have not figured it all out as I have never been a necro but capped its elite last night for fun.

I love this build. I took the base of it and kinda added a few of my own skills vs theres. Instead of Renewing Surge I bring Warding Weapon for the healing (can use on teammates), instead of Generous was Tsungrai I bring Ancestors Rage which works exceptionally well when you have a tank in arggo. The build has no elite but I do not have an elite in Rt yet but it does have options to add elites like Spirit Channeling. This build can do some major spike damage and does not seem to ever run out of energy.

Well, you do limit yourself without spirits, but there are a few options. The first would be to load a secondary attribute in Communing, slap Vital Weapon on yourself, and trip the bonus for Wielder's Strike. On top of that, you could run a Destructive was Glaive/Spirit Rift/Channeled Strike spike on characters who aren't moving (they get hit HARD). With any of these you could bring along a /Me secondary for Arcane Echo or Echo for added damage.
Another option would be to go the weapon spell route, using the melee weapons of your secondary with multi-hit skills like Cyclone Axe or Barrage to put more pressure on enemies.
Out of curiosity though, why don't ya like spirits? You're kinda limiting yourself as a Ritualist if you don't like using spirits
