so today in ra i ran

R/W

Channeling 16 12+1+3
Resto 14 12+2

Bloodsong
Nightmare Weapon
Splinter Weapon
Warmonger's Weapon
Flurry
Mend Body and Soul
Consume Soul [E]
Flesh of my Flesh

basically it was a monk, me, a derv, and a warrior. I cast Splinter on all of us.. yes.. all of us (it last for well over a minute w/ a 5 second recharge) we all went in.. everyone but 2 died, and one of them only had like.. a 1/4 of life. i put Nightmare on myself, put on Flurry (mind you, i have nothing in Swordsmanship) went in, he was dead in two hits. they're monk was still alive, i put nightmare on the warrior, and Warmonger's on myself w/ Flurry (interrupts people who arent attacking) went in, he went to rez, INT, warrior killed him, while the monk never got to use a spell. I got cussed out a lot, but i've been using this all day. i got 32 consec wins and 14 just before i posted, which is the most glads i think i've ever gotten in one day. the 14 were in TA too.

so this also applies to PvE. Put:

Channel 14
resto 12
Swords 10

all the weapon spells
mend body
sever artery
gash
hundred blades [e]
final thrust

with Nightmare+flurry+hundred blades, you get SWEET spikes, and in the right conditions (which is VERY often in PvE) you can do even bigger AoE spikes with Splinter + hundred blades. you really dont need the sword attribs, or even the skills in general. i just like the hp spike of Sever+ Gash+hundreds paired w/ Nightmare.. staggering.

try it.. you might like it

also.. try warmongers w/ daggers and flurry.. its.. mean..

I enjoy using splinter on myself with a bow and Barrage. I never even thought of using a sword. With 100 blades it sounds like fun. I will need to go skill cap to try it out. Since hundred hits one foe twice does splinter go twice for that one extra attack?

A lot of builds will utilize the combination of multi-hit skills and weapon spells like Splinter Weapon. Hundred blades is a good one, as is Triple Chop or Cyclone Axe. However, in my honest and personal opinion, it's just too iffy to get in close and try to hack away at people. Once you're standing next to people, Nightmare's power can usually show, but I just find that all too often the other team will target Ritualists directly after the typical Monkstomp. If you're not in someone's face hacking away, you leave yourself vulnerable to a spike. Granted, rarely any team will actually coordinate a spike in RA, much less all be on the same target. I, like the above poster, would rather use Splinter with Barrage. You also gain access to Dual Shot, which is great for Nightmare. All that, plus you stay further away from the action, so melee isn't as huge a threat as with a Rt/W.

In terms of the build you posted, I'm a little confused as to the Bloodsong/Consume Soul combination. While it's a great heal for emergencies, do you find that you get inturrupted or mauled while you're casting the ritual? It just seems like a LOT of preparation for just the one heal. To each his own, though, a situational heal like that could potentially be exactly what the team might need.

no no..

i meant Consume soul for OTHER rits spirits. meaning i kill the other team's. its like a support utility. bloodsong would only be used as a diversion, or to make people confused.. which seemingly works lol. the thing is, with Ghost Forge armor and darn good healing from Mend Body and Nightmare, the defense/heal problems this build would normally face is gone. i go head to head with warrior s all the time.. i've ony lost to KDs with hammer tanks.. and who doesnt lose here and there. and of course, this is just a play build, nothing too serious.
