What will happen to our money and weapons in GW2?
Boondocksaints
I was just wondering what will happen to all our money and black dyes, sapphires, rubies, weapons, etc. that we have collected in GW 1? Will these be transferable?
Mordakai
Short answer: probably not.
Longer answer:
For sure, Gold will not be (per Gaile quote); and I doubt materials will be.
Weapons: Maybe. And that's a big maybe. And even if they do carry over, I suspect it will be skins only (as the game mechanics are likely to change). Anet has promised more information about what carries over, and what does not.
My guess (which is worth NOTHING): Only titles will be transferable. Everything else we carry over will somehow be unlocked from Eye of the North (although I'm still hoping mini-pets will carry over in some fashion).

Why did you post this is two different forums?
And just how many more millions of times will this question be asked?

I read a review about the expansion and GW 2. They say something different:
"Thanks to your efforts in GW, your character in GW2--the descendant of your GW character--will have access to exclusive titles, companions, pets, armor, and weapons."

why does everyone want everything to be transfered? dosnt anyone want to enjoy building new chars? i really see no point. why start the game if its over? thats what id like to know. sure, we all have worked on something really hard and got something cool out of it, but that was for the first game, not the second. i just dont get it. why?

I don't think for one minutes you will be able to take your gold with you
But, just imagine, 5% compound interest over 200 years =
New game, new start, just as It should be!

Nothing will happen to your money and weapons... they will stay where they are in GW1.
It is highly doubtful that they will transfer over to GW2.

I guess some people want to be able to transfer items earned in GW to GW2 because of the amount and time and effort that was put into obtaining those things in the first place.

have you ever played the sims. it can be fun and addicting. no play it when you have cheats to get money. you have a small rush and buya lot of things, but then you get bored when theres nothing left to do.

They should just let everyone who wants to put everything they have into their time capsule vault.
Then when they log in to GW2 a message pops-up saying random thieves stole your stuff, terribly sorry. Heh.
Transferring money is definately bad, but I would like to transfer rare skin stuff, you know? I like some bling. I'm sure there's nice stuff in GW2 but sometimes you have sentiments towards certain things. ^^

ugh, i am starting to think that the guild wars community has absolutely no common sense whatsoever. let me restate that. i am starting to think that the guild wars players who think that our characters can live for 100's of years, and that you are magically going to be able to transfer all of their money and items, have no common sense. i hate to sound harsh, but there is absolutely no possible way that you could transfer all of your belongings over to the BRAND NEW game. think about it,the odds are that your going to have to create a brand new account for the brand new game. i would LOVE it if on the log-in screen it says, "do you want to transfer ALL of your items and money and characters from the first game to this game?! if so, enter the account name and password, and automatically transfer it all to your account for no charge!! haha thats right, show those newbies who's boss!!"
you guys just have to face it. throw your stupid pixled sword and armor away and turn your common sense back on. the one main reason they cant do this is because of the HUGE disadvantage to new players. thats all

There are going to be TONS of new players coming into GW2. Original GW players don't need a monsterous head start with gold & weapons, since they'll have an easier time sorting through the game's mechanics.
And there will be tons of GW1 players who will move on to other things in their lives. YOU may be one of them, so why even worry about it?
It's a NEW game, so there should be a NEW start. Over the course of a couple hundred years weapons rust, armor rots, and pets die. Get over it and play on!

Exclusive new weapons likely refers to "bonus" weapons like the preorder items, possibly using the skins of your old weapons, possibly just as a nice bonus for having played GW1.

The only thing I would want Transfered/Reserved is our char names and that I know that has been covered somewhere here.
Gold/weapons/dyes/materials/Armour ect ect ect can all start from scratch in the NEW game.
