Yeah, just ordered GW2 and GW2-addon too
We will see if the 8/27/07 date will be correct, it's not even near the 'holiday season'.
Ah well, its $10 cheaper in comparison to the other campaigns, at least they got that right.

EB is likely guessing on the release date since there's been no official announcement as far as I know. They do that all the time when they start pre-orders before a release date has been set.

EB is an online computershop. Why would Dynabyte's release date be valid?
RTSFirebat
No release date is the correct on till A.net themselves give an annoicement on the release date.
So it could be still set for a holiday release... or maybe not.

they just want your money as fast as possible, they have no idea when it comes out they just want cash now and they want to find people that will pay now.
especially since they have not paid for the shipments yet.

Preorders quite this early can at times prove to be problematic later on. It's best to wait at least 'til two or three months before release.
Xenex Xclame
Yeah, the dates are probably a bit off or completely wrong, these stores takes guesses but they are not just random guesses , they look at the past , when the companies have said , in a certain period and have each time released it on the same date, its likely that they will do that again.
They may also look at other companies that sell the same type of game, lets say WoW was releasing a expansion pack in the holiday seasonand they had announced a date, its safe to assume that Anet ( at that moment havent not yet announced it) maybe announce they will release a few days before the WoW expansion just to "steal" a few costumers from WoW.
So yeah, ill just wait for when Anet announces it.
Did anyone see the pic provided on the Dynabyte site for the box cover?
Looks pretty nice.

And even release dates givin by makers are sometimes not correct they can always be released early or late so don't focus on the date tell it gets near just know you can pri and forget about not getting a copy when it hits stores.

When I pre-ordered Nightfall at Bol.com (another dutch site, but also english and more), the price was the same for the CE version as the normal version ^^. I hope they make that mistake again.
And you DO NOT have to pay beforehand for pre-orders, at least not at Bol.com.
Question to Anet: Will there be a CE version of GW:EN as well?

Being the first company to offer a pre-order usually entices more gamers to look up the game on the net and then pre-order with them rather than another company. It's a way of snagging customers before they think about pre-ordering elsewhere.
EternalTempest
I found that I prefer pre-order anywhere except Gamestop/EB from past experience with that company.
Also going to wait till there is an official yeah/nah on a CE version.
The date is pure guess work on there part.

Maybe Anet gave more detailed information to there retailers, instead of Holiday 2007... which is a bit vague.
Trakata
Well, it's probably incorrect, but that 8/27 launch date would be sweet; it's my birthday. Plus, it means we get GWEN that much sooner. Again, it's premature, but it's still nice to think about.
Mordakai
The last article posted (the German one) said Summer 2007, so 8/27 could be correct.
I'm still expecting an October release myself (a year after Nightfall).
I'll be wating for the CE as well (maybe it will come with special items for Guild Wars 2?)

^Actually Gaile said the "summer comment" was a miscommunication. When they were talking about summer, they meant it would be playable at PAX '07.

September 3 is Labor Day in the U.S. That's a holiday even I get off.

Well, if you look at the offer, it says, and I quote "Pre-Release
Ships 8/27/07."
That does not sound like the game to me.
Maybe a weapon set, a minipet and/or an extra character slot.
It does not mention the full version as being available on 08/27/2007.

Sir Skullcrasher
Would there be a CE for GW:EN?
Nekretaal
i'm not sure I'm going to buy it. As an expansion, not a campaign its guaranteted to be more of the same, and I'm not sure I want more of the same.
Besides some things about guild wars really annoy me.
(1) Spam in trade
(2) Death of 6v6 -- I liked 6v6
(3) Lack of regualar skill balances
(4) Overreaching "hard nerf" style of Izzy who is about to send my primary character (with over half my total hours logged into GW) into storage.
(5) Direction GW seems headed with every expansion and update since Tomb of Primeval Kings: zerg like mobs with unbalanced monster skills and environmental effects that dont increase difficulty but do force the community to discriminate against entire professions.

This isn't a discussion on things that annoy you in game. It's about when it will be available and companies fudging release dates.

The quote doesn't really mean anything, but ... for what it's worth, they're not saying it will be definitely Christmas holiday, or even Halloween. August/September is still the second half of 2007. So anything's possible.

I'll take the preorder dates with a huge cup of salt, because they are hardly ever right.

On the bright side, for $40 they'll probably offer some sweet incentives (read: bonus items for Guild Wars 2), to buy it.
beanerman_99
I will most likely just buy it directly from Anet's online store like I did Nightfall. Its fast, easy, and I don't have to run around to different stores to see who has it instock
Former Ruling
Eb/Gamestop tends to 1) Overprice things, 2) Get preorders horribly wrong :\
I vowed never to to do business with them again.

EternalTempest
If it's a code + cd only.. I may got the route that beanerman_99 and buy it via online store actually.
The only thing that would draw me away from the online store would be
Directsong pack as part of the physical package
Some sort of in-game item/effect, etc.
Find a story that sells it much cheaper then online store (Fry's / Outpost tends to do this with special on pre-release games).
A CE Version... I own all the other CE versions
