Background Download ?

HI guys, I just set my gw to gw -dsound for some better audio but when i look at the reconnect(fps thing) then it says Background download : 1.1mb.
What does that means ?

While you play, the game downloads data in the background. Instead of having to download a patch in 1 shot, it slowly downloads itself allowing you to play while it's downloading. If you want to minimize background download, use the -image switch to download every available update, area etc.

It downloads all of the files used in gw.dat. (They're the files you have to download ever time you enter a new zone.) Once you have all of those files you can greatly improve your load times because you aren't having to download files every time you load a zone. You only need to use the -image switch once; When it's done downloading the client will exit, then just remove the -image switch from your shortcut path and you're good to go. The download will likely take quite awhile though, so make sure you have a book on hand. :P
