After the nerf of GoLE
Ipo
Ok, with the nerf of GoLE, (Ok, I know it means that healers can use HP and Aegis for 5 energy but still, it was good before the skill update) I think that touchers should have at least the two necro skills nerfed. That build just annoys me beyond belief because there is no way to offset life stealing(Ok, I know somebody is gonna say somethin about the Paragon skill "Can't Touch This" to take some of the stress off of life stealing) A-Net seem to nerf every other good build, except that one in particular. I would like to see somtething done about Touchers. Anyone else have any comments?

They ain't nerfed it because it isn't a good build.
The damage potential is terrible compared to pretty much every other offensive class, it's easily beat... and... well, outside of scrub arenas it's not a common, ground-breaking build. Even in AB, RA and the like it's not all too common nowadays, all the cookie cutter sheep have moved on to SP/BoA.

I know it isnt a good build but my point is most builds that have been nerfed weren't particularly over-used in PvP or HA etc. The Boon-Healer for example, only really used for general PvE and somethimes farming, but Anet realised that monks were casting Aegis and HP for free and thought "hmm...we should nerf this". Touchers on the other hand, are over-used in Aspenwood etc and Anet think this is fine.In my opinion, they deserved to be nerfed.

Well, GoLE was specifically hit because EVERY caster, near enough, was running it.
GoLE was superior to *elite* energy management skills, without requiring a single attribute point... see why it got hit now?

Yeh, but you cant blame players for using common sense to realise the power of the skill, and anyway, y did they make it that way if they didnt want it being used for high energy skills? Did they expect us to use it for Healing Touch or Heal Other?
Stormlord Alex
Originally... It was terrible, only 1 spell per 30 seconds.
It was buffed to accommodate the changing role of elementalists as a whole, rather than being forced to use elite energy management, an ele (along with the buffed Attunements) could now run another elite to churn out some actual damage (Searing Flames takes the stage here)
However, in buffing the glyph, every other caster now had access to (and I'll turn caps lock on, maybe you'll understand) A NON-ELITE, NON-ATTRIBUTE SKILL THAT WAS OVERPOWERED COMPARED TO *ELITE* ENERGY MANAGEMENT SKILLS.
They *did* want it to be used to power high energy spells, eles naturally eat energy up like a wildfire. However, it was *TOO* effective at what it does, and got tapped with the nerf bat accordingly.
Thank your lucky stars they didn't hit it harder, it's still a viable skill for /E's too, not quite so overpowered anymore (yet still very strong).
It's simply the nature of GW, skills that are much stronger than others are toned down to make it more level overall.
Inspiration still sucks though... GoLE is still FTW.

I do understand where you are coming from, it's just that Vamp Touch and the factions equivalent(the name escapes me) is a 15 energy skill(a lot lower with high expetise) + 3/4 recharge + a 2 sec recharge. This therefore allows for repeatedly spamming it. To conclude, Vamp touch is one of the overpowered skills that should be toned down :
"...to make it more level overall."
This is my view however and I am open to your views on this data.
*EDIT* I dont know how we managed to get to talkin about Touchers to arguing about GoLE.

The touches don't need to be nerfed, simply because they are NOT that powerful.
The skill itself is pretty well balanced as is, it provides a sizeable chunk of unstoppable damage, at the high energy cost and the *serious* disadvantage of being a touch range skill.
Yes, a ranger can spam them with Expertise to provide moderate damage and a constant self-heal, however, the touch ranger build is far too easy to beat to be considered for nerfing. They can be energy denied with impunity, snared in any way, shape or form, or simply slaughtered with superior damage.
The touch ranger is simply a relic from a bygone era, still playable yet inferior to current builds. It *was* effective when boonprots were all the rage, it totally slaughtered their defenses, easier than any other class at the time.
Any current Warrior, Assassin, or Dervish build provides superior melee damage, a Burning Arrow ranger can spread more damage over different targets whilst being more flexible, and any monk worth his salt can kite and out-heal a touch ranger with ease. In a competitive environment... why bother running such a lame build in the face of superior options?
In summation, Touch Rangers (and the Touches themselves) simply don't need a nerf as there is other things around which are actually stronger. After all, why nerf mending wammos when they suck already?
Maybe after they've nerfed the ShockAxe, SP/BoA, Twisting Fangs in general, any Scythe-wielding build, Assassin dual attacks overall, Spears (even more), Burning Arrow rangers, Dragon Slash, Crippling Slash, YAA!, and... well... Hammers, MAYBE they'd think about nerfing touchies...
See my point?

this thread sucks.
gole was overpowered, they nerfed it because it was TOO useful in MANY MANY situations, in HIGH END PVP.
touchers suck as much as this thread does. they never are useful, and arent overpowered either, they dont appear in high end pvp.
what else do you want?
btw Ipo, you mentioned touchers in your first post, so LOL for this-

I think Anet is doing a good job by keeping primary attributes within their professions. GoLE was overused by every caster outside the elementalist profession, and much less used by eles themselves! And since I always run high ES on my ele, I get a buff, just as intended. Thanks Anet!

The point here is... NOBODY GIVES TWO SHITS ABOUT RA, YOU SCRUB. Seriously, ANet devises skillbalances over high-level pvp. This means GvG and occassionally HA. Since touchers fail in any real arena, they pose no threat and therefore, you should learn to deal with them. Its quite easy really: diversion, dshot, snares, kiting, they all do the trick.
