Cut Scene handling

Cut Scene in GW seems to generate ALOT of frustration.

People get upset for having to wait for those who want to watch it. People get upset for those who won't let them watch it. People get upset for time progression in it. People get upset for minion killing them. Etc. etc.

Granted, Anet has tried to provide some fixes for the issue, but it remain a frustrating experience for many players.

So here is my suggestion:
Make the cutscene renderable SEPERATELY and viewable later. In other words, there can be a "video journal" feature for each character. Whenever a cutscene is encountered, the states necessary to render that cutscene is saved to the journal. This cutscene can then be view separately.

This then enable the cutscene to be skipped if at least one player clicks on skip. The cutscene is skipped but a player can always view it separately. It also means that the cutscene state can be designed such that it won't be prone to error (for example, trim all inappropriate enemies and minions from the cut scene, etc.) -- which will up the quality of the cut scene (am i the only one who is annoyed by the Envoys being attacked by the minions?)

I think this will be a very useful feature and if GW2 is going to have cutscenes, then I'd highly recommend something similar.

I don't understand why A-net don't just turn all AI off for CSs. Almost every other game turns off AI for all char when a cutscene runs.

This is a good idea, and some CSs, like the penultimate one in Prophacies I'd like to watch again

Would be very nice indeed. But it really doesn't help mid-mission. Like the (extremely) long cut scene on Hells Precipice before Mr. Hundred Blades. Would be a bit screwy if 1 person watched it and nobody else did because the game renders things in a cutscene as if it were in game. Like oh THK, i've occasionally had Smoke Phantoms get diverted attacking a Gnashers rogue Fiend instead of attacking the Giants, Giants still die... but it looks stupid.

Cut scenes still screw up avatars though which is annoying.

I think this idea would be great. I like watching the CS and hate to make everyone else watchthem when 7 of 8 have skipped.

Great idea. Shouldn't be too difficult to implement. Also, would make sure my Survivor doesn't die at the end of the Vizunah Square mission!

Well, part of the issue is that people are always in a rush and like skipping content. Yes, cut scenes are "content" and some people actually like to understand the story progression especially if they haven't seen a particular cut scene before.

I do think Minions should be placed on "pause" and party members made invulnerable while the scene rolls on. It is kind of silly to have Togo being attacked by an Afflicted while speechifying to you and your party.

Cut scenes are cool and changing them to be solely used as flashbacks for later viewing destroys the whole contextual value of "being there".

Seriously, if you don't want any immersion in your 3D game, go play Pong.

I play primarily with Heroes and Henchmen because it appears most other players have a "wham, bam, thank you mam" attitude when it comes to playing.

The solution is easy for these speed freaks: don't play with people that want to savor the game.

Sound bite generation for the lose.

It doesn't seem like so much to ask for to not have to watch a cutscene/be able to watch a cut scene, if one wants to. There is no reason why both can't be happy.

Another alternative someone mentioned was add a chat feature. That would be great to collectively laugh at the horrible voice overs.

The only problem I see though, is that some missions you won't know wtf is happening if you haven't watched the cutscene

They would have to have the CSs in the mission too but if more than half the party chose to skip then it would instead of having everyone skip.

It would be great...

It could be added to the quest log.
Along with the already sugested Current, Finished and Known tabs, the quest log could have a 'cinematics' tab, in wich you can see all the cutscenes the current character have started.

It could be great to, for example, to see quickly the cinematics in different languages...

Japanese voice actor take their job seriously, you know.
