i've been having some issues recently with my Gw.exe reaching as high as 500,000k Mem Usage.. Averaging about 450,000k.. which.. i believe.. is ten times what it should be.. i usualy close most software while i play guild wars.. so it can't be that i'm sure.. and i Defrag my PC weekly, i run Window XP Pro SP2, Zonealarm Firewall and AVG Free Edition anit-virus
it seems rather odd, i've read the Sticky's and tried the listed ideas, but nothing seems to help, and i dread the thought of having to shape my GUI all over again only to perhaps learn that no difference has been made
can anybody possibly suggest what may be my issue?
thanks

450mb-500mb memo usage, isn't that normal for GW? 10 times it should be, is that like 45mb-50mb? My is like that for as long as I remember, windows use about 100-150mb of memories depend on what you turn on or off, plus whatever you have on top of that, firewall, anti-virus, start up programs etc. Avg is great but hog a lot of memories as well, but I think 450-500mb usage is normal for GW. I'm away from home right now so I can't check and screen shot it.
Second opinion, anyone?

Yeah, that's about the normal usage for Guild Wars as it's a pretty conservative game when it comes to using resources. For instance BF2 running at maximum settings on my machine uses well over 1.5GB, so 450MB-500MB is nothing really.

well what i don't understand is, it never used to do that.. it used to stay pretty low, but what i don't get it why everything just runs slow on it.. i figured that must be the problem, but if not.. i've no clue what else could be causing a rash 10second between button press + the action being done, i've no lag over xfire and it's not so extreme for anyone else i've asked

The amount of memory used by GW depends on where you're at. Here's what I came up with:
1. Log-in screen - 15-20mb
2. Selecting Character - 100-150mb
3. Guild Hall - 150mb-200mb
4. Senji's Corner - 200-250mb
5. Kaineng Center - 300mb-500mb+
Not only that, after returning from Kaineng to the Selecting Character screen, it was still using around 300mb of memory. Lesson of the day - Memory usage is dependent on where you're at, what's going on, how many other characters are in the same area, etc. If it never used to get that high, then I'd pity you, because you were probably getting really crummy frame rates and graphics.
On your second point, the delay between issuing a command and it acknowledging it - When that happens, does your character, and any other characters around it, stand still? If so, it's lag. If they seem to freeze in place (mid-run, mid-step, etc.), then you're having frame rate issues.
Which one seems a more accurate description?

Well.. i'm still able to move, so nothing is frozen, and the skills display the animation on there bar as if they are activating, but don't actualy do that for a short while so it's kind of neither, since i'm still seeing the enemies attack and still taking damage and still walking around, but then somtimes as i walk i'll start doing the casting animation
