New minimum level option
TheRaven
Ok, I checked the Index of Ideas and I did not see this listed. If I overlooked it then I apologize. (Yeah, I get annoyed at the folks that suggest the same old ideas over and over again too)
I'd like an option in the in-town party window to set a minimum level for invites. For example, you are in Elona Reach and you're trying to get a PUG together for the mission. So you advertise, "GLF more for mission. Need monk and 2 others 3/6!" It would really be nice if you could set a switch that would prevent anyone who is not at least Level X from sending an invite. You should also advertise what your min level is if you've set it.
- The party leader is the only one who can set this switch.
- Default setting is always "off". Any level can join.
- If the switch is set to Level 17, then only Level 17+ can send an invite. A level 10 player attempting to join will get a red minimum level is 17 message similiar to the "merged party would be too large" message we currently have.
I ask for this, because I was attemptin to pug Nahpui Quarter for masters this weekend. We had 6/8 players and were looking for 2 more. We already had a monk and a fairly balanced group so we weren't too picky about which professions we needed but we were advertising "Masters Group", This Level 10 warrior kept trying to join. (Ok, how do you get to Nahpui Quarter at only Level 10???? ) I'd reject him and he'd invite again and again and again and again and again and........ I know I'm not the only one who has had this experience.
If this would be a simple addition for the devs, it's something I'd like to see. If it would take a lot of time and effort then I think I'd rather they spend their energy elsewhere.

Um, don't reject them?

I think that if yu ignore a player he can't send invites to you.
If not, then this would be something neat to add.

Lower level people can be soooo annoying thinking that they're 1337 for being where you are at their level

One thing is true. In Shing Jea you can get to level 20 before leaving the island in less tan 6 hours of gameplay...
Yet you still find lvl13 people at Vizunah that didn't even made the any of the +15 attribute quests expecting you to let them enter your Master Reward party...

I think if you just leave the person hanging, that person will eventually get the point that you don't want them. Otherwise they're going to click on other people who can potentially be in your group and then he gets another invite to you.
Of course if he uninvites and tries a party member, leave him hanging again.
Then if under leveled people are trying to get a masters party (except for pre missions), man, do they need to get a clue.

I don't intend for the level restriction to be a hard fast rule either. I may set a Level 20 only masters group, but if a Level 18 Monk whispers to me and says this is his 5th character and he's already made masters on this particular mission with the other 4 and he can show me a decent skill bar, I may lift the restriction for him and let him in. I won't, however, include the Level 19 Wammo wielding a smiting staff of fortitude and 8 healing enchantments.
Hmm, that's another thought. Automatically display current templates along with the invitation. That could certainly weed out a few idiots and make selecting a group easier when you have 2 open slots and 6 join requests.

yea um this just seems a bit too much like unneeded UI, really you can get around this much easier and this is like a vchip in a tv, doing work you should be doing for you, but not as well. really you can just ignore the lowbies and you can decide now what you want to take or not to take. i would rather see a ban player button so you can reject a player or ban a player from that party so they cant invite. much easier much better much smaller.

The problem is that if you don't accept one of the two will happen:
1. You'll be constantly PMd, until you are forced to ignore the person.
2. The person will start spamming local chat until you ignore them, and once you do ignore them the rest of the district will have to deal with them. One whole block fest because of one noob.
Prevention is better than cure!

ahem again with one of my fav quotes "the faults of the few should not banish the many" just because tehre are some idiots does not mean you need to take special care to deal with them, i have in my 2 years of playing only seen 3 people like that and they are on my ignore list lol
MMSDome
just reject them, waste of the devs time to put this in

yeah I don't see the point. Whenever I make a non-tank I always breeze through the game without doing quests, being maybe level 14 or so when others are max (it was so fun doing the desert missions at level 9!).
And in general, when forming a party, I tend to pick the lower level players, the higher level players tend to be not as good . The extra hp and attributes rarely make up for the difference in skill I've found out.
we need a filter for higher level people as well if this were implemented, and that's just too much work.

Regardless of HP, the extra damage and the less HP will prevent you form being as affective.
A lvl 20 noob can still eat some hits, thos making some tanking while I nuke the enemy.
A lvl9 pretentious player will die just by one hit on an non-target spell.
Skill does matter when the level is the same, but you can't avoid Lightning Hammer by strafing, and if it kills you in one hit you make your party get in trouble. So I NEVER let people under the level of the henchmen in the outpost enter a party with me, unless he's my friend or he's in my guild or alliance.
Hm... it is true that you can just simply ignore the requests, then ignore the player, and it is true that is very hard to get enough requests to make the list impossible to read.
Maybe just to add a timer to the reject button, so you can't ask again until 5..10 seconds have passed, should be more than enough.

And your suggestion would cover both a high level and low level filter, I like it
